The cool winds rustled the grass on the training field as Lioren and Sundrin stared at each other with an intense glare.
Suddenly, Lioren lunged forward with great speed, his breathing was a bit irregular,
'Probably a movement technique'
Sundrin knew that to execute a movement technique, one also needs to control one's breathing, but the third elder had yet to teach them any movement techniques. Thus, he concluded that Lioren must have learned it from his parents.
These thoughts went through his mind in only a fraction of a second as he quickly stepped back, retreating.
Lioren smiled condescendingly as he approached with great speed.
Sundrin's hand flashed behind him as he pulled an arrow from his quiver and strung it upon his bow.
*swish~*
The stone arrow flew through the air and approached Lioren.
But Lioren was also a great warrior, so he quickly swung his spear and hit the arrow with great speed, deflecting it immediately.
His movements did not stop for once, and he was quickly in front of Sundrin.
He raised his right leg and smashed it down against the ground as he inhaled sharply and thrust his spear forward, aiming for Sundrin's head.
Mid way the spear's head was lit up in flames as Lioren continued his attack.
One of Sundrin's eyebrows raised as he thought,
'So he has also learned the first skill taught by the elder, but he hasn't mastered it fully'
Thinking this, he saw through the flaw of the attack and moved his head to the side a bit. The spear quickly went past his face, not even leaving a scratch.
Lioren was stunned by Sundrin's quick and calm movement, and Sundrin himself didn't let go of this momentary vulnerability displayed by his enemy.
He quickly used the bow as a pole and thrust its head into Lioren's stomach.
Lioren's eyes widened in pain as he felt the air leave his lungs. He quickly gritted his teeth and rushed back to create some distance between them.
He clutched his stomach and used his spear as a support, quickly leaving behind a trail of dust as he retreated.
As soon as he knew he was safe, he fell on one of his knees, not being able to withstand the pain anymore.
Although Lioren had more agility than Sudnrin. Sudnrin was still far stronger than Lioren, thus, it was understandable that every hit of his would feel like a huge boulder crashing onto Lioren's body.
Lioren breathed heavily as he got up.
Sundrin also didn't chase after Lioren and stood there displaying the same condescending smile Lioren had shown to him before.
Lioren grew pissed, and a vein poped on his forehead as he quickly lunged forward again,
"AAAHHHHHHH!!"
Lioren screamed to intimidate his opponent as he plunged himself forward.
This time, Sundrin didn't fall back; he stood rooted in his place as he saw his opponent approaching him quickly.
And as soon as Lioren was close enough, he started rapidly thrusting his spear forward, assaulting Sundrin with a barrage of spear thrusts.
But Sundrin didn't falter, although he was slower than Lioren, the control he held over his own body was unmatched in his generation.
Sundrin suddenly stepped back one step and dodged one of the thrusts, then he moved his head a bit to dodge the next by a hair. He continued to dodge all the attacks by only a little and would make no unnecessary movements.
This not only stunned Lioren and the other kids but also Vailor, who squinted his eyes to focus more on the fight, observing Sundrin's every move.
Soon, the barrage of attacks ended, and Lioren started breathing heavily as sweat drizzled down his face.
He had been unable to hit Sundrin even a single time, which made him not only extremely infuriated but also a bit scared of him.
But Sundrin didn't care about Lioren's thought process as he quickly swung his bow and delivered a powerful blow to his face.
Blood started oozing out of Lioren's mouth as he fell on the ground, heaving like a dog.
And before he could get up, he saw Sundrin standing above him, his bow in hand with an arrow strung on it, aiming directly at his face.
Immediately, Lioren's face paled as Sudnrin launched the arrow.
Lioren's body jolted as he moved his head to the side, but a cut still appeared on his cheek as the arrow passed by him.
But before he could even heave a sigh of relief, a kick smashed onto his chest, sending him flying back. When he landed on the ground, the air quickly left his lungs as he felt like the ability to breathe had been taken away from him.
He tried to use his weak and shaking arms as support to get up but his eyes widened when they landed on Sundrin.
Sundrin had swiftly strung another arrow on his bow and let it soar through the air as it arrived before Lioren.
Lioren tried to move his body even though it hurt a lot, as the arrow flew by beside his arm.
Although he managed to dodge the arrow, it still left a deep wound on his right arm.
Lioren winced as he looked up to glare at Sundrin venomously.
But Sundrin didn't care at all, he quickly thrust his body forward taking this chance when his opponent was down.
Shocked and horrified, Lioren quickly gets up in time to see Sundrin just before him. He swings his spear with all the might left in his tired, wounded body to deal some damage.
Suddenly, Sundrin jumps forward and dodges the spear slash. As soon as he is near Lioren, he smashes his fist against Lioren's face, causing it to let out cracking sounds.
The punch had landed directly on Lioren's nose, and if the cracking sounds were any indication, it was broken, as blood came out of his nose.
Lioren curled into a ball, clutching his nose with his left hand while his right hand still didn't let go of his spear.
Sundrin raised an eyebrow, impressed by his opponent's endurance, but still he swung his leg and kicked him in the stomach, sending him tumbling back again.
At this point, all the kids felt nothing but pity for Lioren, who had challenged this monster in human skin.
Even the kids who had been laughing at Sundrin before in the cottage had shut up and were now gulping down their saliva in nervousness.
They were thanking their luck that they hadn't made the same mistake a Lioren and were also very afraid that Sundrin would come after them for revenge.
Not knowing of the different thoughts going through the heads of the kids, Sundrin looked at Lioren, who was still trying to get up.
Now he felt a bit irritated, he had gone easy on him enough, so maybe it was time to end this.
He pulled the string of his bow back and closed his eyes to focus.
Crisp sounds of flame rang out through the silent field as a flaming arrow quickly formed, strung on his bow.
Sundrin's eyes jolted open as he aimed at Lioren and let go of the string. The arrow quickly hurled itself through the air.
Lioren's face paled as he quickly used his spear as support to move away from his position.
He limped to the side as the arrow landed behind him.
But….
*Boom!*
A booming sound rang out as the arrow exploded behind Lioren.
"Ahhhhhh!!"
Lioren let out a blood-curdling scream as he felt his back burn. He was sent flying in the air as soon smashed face-first against the ground.
His body was too tired, and he felt every part of his body ache in pain.
He lay on the ground as he saw Sundrin throw away his bow and lunge in his direction.
His eyes widened, but he couldn't get up, his body was too injured.
Suddenly, Sundrin summoned a fire arrow in his right hand and jumped forward with great momentum.
Lioren looked on as Sundrin was upon him in a matter of seconds, the arrow he held in his hand pointing in his direction.
He closed his eyes and let go of the spear he held tightly before waiting for the arrow to plunge into his body.
.
.
.
.
The pain he anticipated didn't arrive, and he finally pulled up the courage to open his eyes.
His eyes looked on as Sundrin was already over him, the arrow he held in his hand plunged just beside his head into the ground.
Silence enveloped the place again as Lioren gritted his teeth in frustration,
"The winner is, Sundrin!"
Vailor announced, finally breaking the silence.
All the kids looked on in awe and fear as the result finally entered their ears.
And just like Sundrin had promised, it was not a "good match".
It was a one-sided beatdown.
