Bang! Bang!
Various crude weapons and objects struck the summoned Archangel of Fire, making muffled thuds against its divine armor. But for a creature of its level—especially one with high defense—such attacks were meaningless.
Its flaming sword cleaved the last warrior in front of it, and it slowly turned its silver-helmed head to the surrounding mass of Lizardmen.
Its wings beat once—glorious and radiant.
With burning eyes locked on the densest cluster of enemies, the Archangel raised its sword to strike once more—
"Plant Entanglement!"
A chant burst from the rear. The elder priest of the Lizardmen, his voice strained, unleashed his spell. Vines erupted from the ground, wrapping tightly around the angel's legs. Though it hovered only a short distance above the battlefield, the roots were persistent.
Swish!
The flaming blade swept once—cutting—but the vines regenerated, surging upward with unnatural speed.
The elder priest, sweat pouring between his scales, shouted with conviction, "Now! Attack while it's restrained!"
Two Lizardmen warriors responded instantly. With a roar, they used the tangled terrain as a springboard, leaping onto the Archangel and latching onto its wings. One after another, warriors threw themselves into the fray, surrounding and piling onto the celestial being.
"We got it!"
"Kill the bastard!"
"It slaughtered too many of us!"
Cheers of anger and triumph erupted across the battlefield. Even so, the elder priest remained cautious.
"Don't kill it! Just restrain it!" he barked. "As long as it lives, the summoner cannot replace it!"
He knew. Summoned monsters vanish upon death—but remain bound if simply held.
Outside the Small Fang Tribe gates
On either side of Minori, charmed hunting Lizardmen and an evil dog stood, motionless. The youth watched the chaos within the village walls calmly.
"Hmm," Minori murmured, observing the Archangel's entrapment. "That priest is better than expected."
He adjusted his cloak slightly, brushing dust from its hem.
"A single Fire Archangel… should be untouchable for them in theory." His lips curled into a smile. "But this is a good reference. Numbers, coordination… low-level mobs can still outperform expectation with the right synergy."
Suddenly—
Whoosh!
A black shadow flew through the air.
Minori's gaze narrowed, and the hunting Lizardman moved to intercept.
Bang!
A stone smashed into the Lizardman's left arm. A bloody mist burst forth as the limb was shattered and torn away.
But the charmed Lizardman merely stood still—expressionless, unfazed by the loss.
Minori glanced at the object that landed with a clatter: just a stone.
"Hm. To produce such force with this?"
He looked up.
There, standing with sharp hostility, was a slender Lizardman with yellow-speckled egg-hued skin, a unique slingshot gripped in his claws.
"What did you do to Gully, human!?" the newcomer shouted.
Minori raised a brow. "He's mine now. You hit him rather hard."
He studied the Lizardman's features. So distinct. So unlike the rest.
Sukyu Juju, he recalled.
The chieftain of the Small Fang Tribe, and the only one among the five tribal leaders not resurrected by Ainz Ooal Gown—his body had been too damaged to recover with low-tier resurrection.
Now, here he was, alive.
"I am the chief of this land," Suukuijuzu said through gritted teeth. "Our warriors wronged you, and you have taken your revenge."
"Many of us have fallen. You remain unharmed. That should be enough."
He bowed his head, shame flashing across his yellow eyes.
Minori remained silent, observing.
"I know you're buying time." Minori bent down, picked up the severed arm, and placed it back on the stump.
He took out a small vial—a basic alchemical potion enhanced by ogre blood—and poured it slowly over the wound.
Before Sukyu Jujus eyes, tendons and muscle re-knitted, skin grew, and the arm was restored.
The chief stared, shocked.
Minori straightened.
"Don't mistake me for a saint. I summon angels, yes... but I'm not a good person."
Step—step—
A group of Lizardmen arrived. The elder priest's eyes locked with his chieftain's.
"We've restrained the angel." His voice was raspy. "Your strongest weapon is now neutralized, human."
He raised his staff and cast Lesser Agility Boost on Sukyu Juju.
"Attack."
Sukyu Juju's eyes turned bloodshot. "Accurate Shot!"
He yanked his slingshot taut—snap!
The first stone flew like a meteor.
Boom! The evil dog shifted, intercepting the shot with its bone-bound chains.
"...I really need to learn a good AoE spell," Minori muttered.
He raised his hand, eyes cold.
"Also... who told you I could only summon one angel?"
Shine.
A burst of white light erupted—another Fire Archangel descended, its sacred presence sending a shiver through the charging horde.
"Go."
Boom!
The newly summoned Archangel surged forward, flaming sword dancing. A dozen Lizardmen were torn asunder in a heartbeat.
"What?!" the old priest gasped.
Sukyu Juju's fury exploded. "Meteor Shot! Silence!"
He dashed into motion, unleashing a flurry of high-speed projectiles, turning into a blur.
Minori's gaze flickered as his status screen updated.
Interesting. That's a rare one.
Still, he raised a hand, issuing a command.
His charmed Lizardman hunter stepped forward—body broad, arms spread wide.
A living wall.
Minori's true aim wasn't a massacre—it was research.
Minori didn't mind leaving a wrong information gap for the Ainz and his group who would arrive in the future.
