Before it got close to them, the swarm reached Sola, and it seemed like the whole thing was absorbed by him.
When the last beetle was gone from the air, Sola was not there anymore.
Then… the battle raged on.
The Lorian army attacked the remaining soldiers, which was less than half of what they had at the start.
And they won.
Their only purpose was to stall the battle and weaken the enemy until help arrived, but they managed to win with the help of one slave and his god.
As soon as the battle ended, every soldier got an order from the lord to seek out the boy who was the heir of the seventh traitor god, kill him on the spot, and bring his head to him.
As for Freide and Edric, they were put in prison until they were proven innocent and shown to have nothing to do with that god.
After some time, Sola woke up in the middle of the forest. His wounds were mostly healed, but they still hurt, and he could not make sudden movements.
There was a wound on his chest from the arrow that pierced it, but it was mostly healed.
Standing up, he looked around, confused.
He was in the forest next to the city; he could still see the battlefield from the huge rock he was standing on.
How did he get here? What should he do now? How could he return home without the help of others?
All of these thoughts rushed through Sola's mind, but he knew that answering those questions had to wait.
The only thing he wanted to do now was what the mysterious deity had instructed him to do:Go into the dungeon he had spawned in and reach the tomb.
He did not know why that deity told him to do that, but the fact that he was miraculously alive and far away from the battle proved that he should trust the deity and follow its advice.
He was not far from the dungeon, so he started going there; it was not like he had any other place to go.
And the soldiers were probably already looking for him.
Sola carefully reached the dungeon without encountering any monsters.
But upon reaching it, he saw a huge bear guarding its entrance.
The bear was twice as big as the ones he had seen in the waking world.
Without any plan, Sola went straight to the entrance; Lily had already formed beside him.
Seeing them, the wild beast roared aggressively, trying to scare them off, but neither of them budged. Lily dashed in its direction, evading its claw and making a deep cut on its chest.
The furious beast lunged at her, trying to slash her with its claws, while in the next moment, a silver, slender blade reached its brain without even piercing its hide and bone first.
[You have slain a Tier III Morbid Bear]
Sola unstuck the blade from its brain and entered the cave.
Lily, who was left summoned, finally started talking.
"What are you planning to do now?"
He looked at her raven-black eyes, which had been blue until she died, and answered happily,
"First, I am going to check what's inside that door; then I am going to become stronger—stronger enough to take revenge on the gods who did this to us."
Lily, who was following him quietly, grinned at him.
"I don't know about you, but life is not so bad living inside you and being so strong—well, apart from the fact that I unwillingly see you do stuff."
She then blinked at Sola, who turned around, blushing.
'I had no privacy, I guess.'
"I also get to experience how boys pee, so I hope it doesn't get too boring."
Sola lightly punched her on the shoulder to stop her from teasing him and said,
"Once I become stronger, I will release you for whole days until it is time for sleep, so just wait—you are going to have a normal life."
Lily did not say anything; she quietly approached Sola from behind and hugged him.
Sola flinched, removed himself from the hug, turned around, and looked her in the eyes.
She was more strikingly beautiful than anyone he had ever seen; she also looked like a magical girl enveloped in dark mist, like a cute goddess.
"Has anything other than my hair color changed? I want to look in the mirror,"
said Lily while looking back at Sola.
"I will get you a mirror whenever I can, but before that, this will do."
Sola summoned his blade and handed it to her.
In the next moment, one could hear Lily gasping and making comments about her new appearance.
Sola could not help but smile while listening to her cute reactions.
"This is it."
They had reached the entrance of the huge room where the body of the dungeon guardian had previously been, but now there was nothing—it had disappeared without a trace.
But Sola did not care about that; he slowly approached the blocked entrance of the room.Looking at the symbols above the room, something hit Sola.
When everything went dark after he got shot in the heart, he heard the deity, who was apparently the seventh traitor god, announce that his son had come back for revenge, and the symbols of the room said:
'Here lies the Traitor's child'
So did that mean that the child had been resurrected and that he was here to open the gate for him?
Sola was very confused and wanted to know more. If the traitor's child was planning to take revenge on the gods, their plans aligned, so maybe he would join him.
After a second, Sola approached the rock and put his hand on it.
But nothing happened; the door did not even budge.
"Hey, is anyone there?"
He shouted while banging on the door.
"Sola, I think whoever is there is long dead."
Said Lily while smiling at him.
Sola thought for some time and decided to activate his mark.
The moment power surged inside him, there was a deafening sound of something breaking, and the door started moving slowly, revealing the room.
None of them could tell what was in the room because of the smoke until the door fully opened.
And what they saw left both of them frozen.
