Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: When Heroes Rise

The alien invasion on Earth had reached a critical point. So many enemies had descended that even teachers and school principals joined the battlefield. Civilians who had awakened their Khodams, even if weak, took up arms and fought.

Some possessed extremely weak Khodams—there was even one that resembled a small pigeon. Sadly, such Khodams were helpless, often swallowed whole by the alien beasts.

But thanks to close cooperation between the military and world governments, a sliver of hope remained. Presidents didn't hesitate—they poured national budgets into arming civilian Khodams. With these weapons, even the weakest could fight off one or two aliens before retreating to safe zones for Khodam recovery.

Amidst the chaos, Rai's Khodam stood out like a radiant beacon. Angel, with her glowing wings, danced through the darkened skies. Her Wind Blade could slice through giant aliens and tear through the armor of Martian Bats with a single strike. Her battles weren't just powerful—they were beautiful, captivating the eyes of fellow students and warriors alike.

But Rai did not fight alone.

Kenzo, Rai's childhood friend, also rose to the occasion. With a 20% synchronization rate, his White Sage Monkey had awakened a unique skill: the Sacred Mace—a weapon that could change size and length at will. Though still at Level 1, Kenzo had trained his combat skills extensively and wielded the mace with precision, crushing alien after alien. Each kill brought him closer to a new level.

Meanwhile, Riku, their third companion, had awakened the Humanoid Slime Khodam. Though its gelatinous body seemed fragile, it harbored deadly potential. With a 15% sync rate, Riku had unlocked the skill Acidic Blood, capable of dissolving alien flesh rapidly. He would trap alien heads inside his slime body, suffocating them before digesting them into nothingness.

The three—Rai, Kenzo, and Riku—were once just kids playing together. Now, they stood side by side, facing an army of monsters, protecting the Earth as comrades-in-arms.

They fought together—Rai, Kenzo, and Riku—covering each other's backs as they moved through the battlefield. All around the school and the city, aliens were falling one by one.

Occasionally, nuclear explosions erupted in the sky. The resulting shockwaves created massive clouds that spread like mountains in the heavens—terrifying and awe-inspiring. Even Angel felt a chill of fear witnessing the destruction, though she stood her ground.

But not all the aliens were destroyed.

A giant crab-like alien—towering and monstrous—descended near the school. It had eight enormous claws and crashed down with a thunderous quake.

It was a Level 3 alien, the kind that usually required Khodams between level 50 and 100 to defeat.

Terror swept through the onlookers. Its massive legs crushed buildings the moment they touched the ground.

The school principal charged toward the alien, flanked by the P.E. teacher and the combat instructor. In an instant, the principal transformed into a giant white tiger, the P.E. teacher became a centaur, and the combat instructor morphed into a hawk-human hybrid with powerful wings and sharp talons.

All three raced toward the alien with full force. Their Khodams were among the highest-level fighters in the area—around level 80–90.

Angel, meanwhile, had leveled up faster than most, thanks to the mushroom bomb she had previously unleashed. It wiped out swarms of Martian Bats, granting her massive experience points. Normally, leveling up this fast would've been impossible in one-on-one combat.

The giant crab aimed its fiery red claws at the three teachers. Its claws glowed, then launched massive torrents of flame, engulfing the area. Many nearby Khodams were instantly destroyed, forcing their summoners to retreat and begin the healing process.

The White Tiger principal opened his maw and fired a blinding white beam, severing one of the alien's claws. The Centaur pulled back his bow and released an energy arrow, piercing deep into the crab's body and eliciting a deafening screech.

The Hawkman soared into the sky, unleashing hundreds of razor-sharp feathers, further enraging the beast.

But it wasn't enough.

In seconds, the crab's claw regenerated, and its wounds closed completely.

Seeing the impossible regeneration and the sheer power of their foe, the principal bellowed:

"Everyone, retreat! Now!!"

Seeing so many people fleeing in panic, Angel locked her eyes on the massive crab-like alien.

"You two, get out of here," Angel said calmly. "I've already reached level 54. That should be enough to actually hurt that thing."

Because of her level, her attacks might finally be able to deal meaningful damage.

Kenzo and Riku exchanged glances.

"We may not be able to damage that giant monster," Kenzo replied, gripping his staff tightly, "but we can help by clearing the aliens around it."

Kenzo spun his sacred club and dashed to the side of the giant crab, creating space and drawing some of the smaller enemies away to make Angel's battle easier.

Riku, now fully in his slime humanoid form, gave a shrug—though it was hard to tell what he meant. Without hesitation, he slid to the opposite side, attacking smaller aliens with his acidic attacks.

Angel turned toward the towering creature and narrowed her eyes.

"Well then, giant crab... I'll be your opponent!"

She spread her wings wide and shot into the sky, soaring toward the massive alien.

The teachers, noticing her arrival, paused in surprise, then began preparing for a renewed assault.

"Hey," one of them called out. "That thing has incredible regeneration. How are we supposed to kill it?"

"I've got a plan," Angel replied, eyes locked on the beast.

Noticing someone approaching, the giant crab alien raised all eight of its massive claws and unleashed a torrent of fire toward Angel.

Angel swiftly dodged to the left, then to the right, weaving through the blazing inferno with sharp, calculated movements.

She flew higher and summoned her Wind Blade, slashing it down onto the crab's massive shell. But the attack barely left a mark—its carapace was incredibly tough.

"Tch… it's too hard…" Angel muttered.

Realizing brute force wouldn't work, she began circling the creature in the air, watching every movement, every reaction. Her sharp eyes searched for a weakness—a soft spot, a seam in the armor, anything.

"I have to find it… there must be a weak point somewhere."
