Chapter 20 - Episode 16: Flower's Strange Request

She didn't say anything else and threw the sword in front of me. When I looked at the sword that fell to the ground, I realized that it looked just as I had seen it from a distance.

It had curves similar to a kris. Actually, I only saw two curves on it. As it bent inward like a yatagan, it suddenly started to bend outward like a shamshir. The continuation of these curves was apparent but the sword looked as if it had been cut in the middle. The tip of the sword was straight and not sharp at all. I thought to myself, 'They're not lying to her. It is really can't fight her. How did she even fight with it?' I suspected that Alex, or the main character, had only won because of luck.

"Um… Excuse me, lady Zui but why did you choose such a sword?"

"First of all, call me only Zui."

Hearing this, I for the first time sensed hostility in her voice. This hostility wasn't directed at me. This girl definitely didn't want to be treated like a noble and her anger was entirely due to that treatment. I thought, 'She probably hates her family… Well… I think I would hate mine too.'

"Of course, Zui."

After a brief silence;

"Good."

And she simply lay down on her bed. Sin of the Flower was truly strange and she was staring at the ceiling. It seemed like she was deep in thought. I wondered if she was considering my question but I decided to stop thinking about it. I couldn't understand her mind and my thoughts were already a mess due to everything I'd experienced.

"Why did I choose this sword? I suppose it was because I liked the look of it."

I didn't know what to say about that. I decided to keep speaking whatever came to mind.

"Understood… The appearance is certainly unique but… Why did you prefer this one when other swords were available? Weren't the swords you used before better?"

"No. Not at all. I was going to use a sword for the first time and I wanted to use a visually appealing sword."

"What!"

If I had been sitting on a chair, I probably would have fallen to the ground out of shock. But since I was already on the ground, such a thing was out of the question.

"You… I mean, have you never fought before?"

"If you had asked me a week ago, I would have said no."

I couldn't say a word. My brain had completely shut down. Did this girl really never fight? Then, how did she finish off a her own family? Or did she not do it? After all, no matter how old you are or how justified you may feel, killing someone is a crime. Everyone was saying that she did it. They kept saying it but not a single piece of evidence had come to light regarding her involvement. Did the Amor family really fall to the Sin of the Flower, or was it something entirely different?

At this point, I thought about the fight between Zui and Alex. How could Zui have fought for the first time? Despite everything, I believed that both of them had similar strength in every stats. Luck had also played a role in that. The only reason Alex won the fight was...

It was experience.

So, Alex had won because Zui didn't know how to fight but even though it was her first time using a sword, it didn't seem like that at all. Even the instructors thought she was an experienced warrior; two instructors offered her private lessons. Why she refused those offers was also a mystery.

"I didn't get an answer from you."

Zui snapped me out of this chain of thoughts. She was waiting for my response. It seemed like she was unaware that she was a combat genius. Because of this, even if I were to do what she wanted, my heart didn't want her to use a sword in that way.

"Um… Well… Would it be okay if I made you another sword?"

"No."

'Why is she so persistent on this?' I wondered to myself. I didn't want to be pushed around on this matter.

"Lady… I mean, Zui. Since I am someone who understands weapons, I suggest I make you a different sword."

After saying that, she stopped lying down and got up from the bed. Then, she started to look down at me because I was still on the floor and hadn't gotten up yet. She spoke with increased coldness in her icy tone.

"Maybe you still don't understand. I'm the weapon here. I asked you to make a weapon. I didn't say you should make a weapon I can use. I just want the weapon you will make for me just to carry around."

I honestly started to think she was beginning to ramble. Who would cover up a murder for something like that? It was never normal.

But the person in front of me was also not normal.

"Uh… I see…"

"You probably aren't convinced."

"Well… I just don't know what to say."

Honestly, what was I supposed to do? Zui didn't seem like she was going to give up. This combat genius said that the real weapon was herself. Actually, from another perspective, this idea was logical. When your weapons make you strong, not having that weapon transforms you into an ordinary person. When these roles change, you remain strong in every situation.

"Okay. I will do as you say, but..."

"But?"

I had already rested enough and the pain the poison had caused me had lessened. As I stood up, I continued speaking in this manner:

"From now on, I think we need to know each other's weaknesses and strengths because we are now accomplices in crime. That nalia… I mean, Rona, was a cultist."

As soon as I heard this, I noticed a look of shock in Zui's eyes. Then, that shock was replaced by a feeling of anger and she moved to grab my collar. At this point, she probably thought it would be inappropriate to do that, so she stopped her movement. After rubbing her temples, she took a deep breath.

"Why didn't you tell me this earlier, you moron?! Becoming a target of cultists is one of the worst things that can happen. If you're not lying… just a second…"

A few seconds passed and then she continued speaking.

"Are the other nalias also cultists?"

"I don't know yet but it's worth assuming that they are."

"You're right. They will interrogate me or you at some point. We need to ensure that what we tell them doesn't contradict. Other than that…"

Zui looked around. It seemed as if she was checking whether she had rested or not. She turned to me and pulled out her own wallistics from her pocket. In the middle of the room, a three-dimensional screen appeared. She looked tense because she was about to show her stats to someone whose name she didn't even know properly.

Name: Zui Amor

Race: Human

"Shit…"

Sin of the Flower was a real monster.

"Your turn."

She said I needed to show my stats and she touched the place where I had my wound. That brought back the pain instantly and I did what I had to do—show her my stats. I didn't see her surprised. When compared with her own stats, my weakness was clearly obvious.

"I thought so. You really pushed yourself more than you should have in the training fight."

This compliment inexplicably made me proud. Afterwards, I saw Zui going to the closet. She took out an Academy uniform from inside.

"It might be a bit small for you, but if you don't return to your room in proper attire, you'll arouse suspicion."

At that moment, I was grateful for the design of the uniform. Wearing an outfit designed for women would definitely be more suspicious. Luckily, the Academy uniforms weren't designed that way.

I put on the uniform she gave me. From then on, we didn't say a single word and I quickly left the room. Then, without rushing, I took my steps back to my own room. I had returned to my room in just a few minutes. As soon as I entered, I took off the uniform I was given and looked at it. The owner of this uniform truly was an extremely strange person. I only wanted to make a sword for myself, but the sword I was going to make was for Zui. And it seemed like I had meddled in things I shouldn't have. To get through all of this, I really had to be careful. I tossed the uniform on a corner of the room. I couldn't be bothered to put it somewhere neatly. I was too tired and sleepy.

I collapsed onto my bed like a burlap sack of potatoes and I fell asleep in less than a minute. Throughout this moment, I kept thinking about Zui's stats. Her stats were really wonderful but her magic stat… I would call it a miracle. At her age, no one else had reached such an advanced level of magic stat. I had thought to myself, 'It's obvious that this girl murdered her own family. Why do you question that, you idiot Nell?' I wanted to think more about this topic but sleep was just way too sweet.
