After walking for a few minutes following the officer in front of him, the officer slowly stopped his steps in front of a door numbered 4, which matched with the number of the ball that Shaan had gotten earlier.
"This is it, this is the room of your mentor, Mr. Maximus Blugard," said the officer, knocking on the room door and entering. "Please come in, Mr. Maximus must have been waiting for you."
"Alright."
When Shaan stepped into the room, at first glance, the room was almost similar to his room. It was just that this room looked much larger than his, and there was indeed a kind of terrace bordered by glass windows. It seems that by being a mentor, you also have a privilege in this place.
"Mr. Maximus? Someone wants to see you," said the officer, looking for Sir Maximus' whereabouts. "Strange, where is Sir Maximus' whereabouts?"
As the two of them wandered around looking for Mr. Maximus' whereabouts, Shaan noticed that there was smoke coming out from outside the small crack in the glass window. 'Perhaps there's someone outside the window. I'd better check it out.'
Shaan slowly pushed the glass window, and he was right. There was a tall, silver-haired man standing with his back to him. He appeared to be wearing a uniform, but his uniform was different from the officer who escorted Shaan. His uniform was gray, and there was a stitched symbol of the seven virtues- Honesty on his back.
'Is it possible that this man is the mentor who will-"
"Mr. Maximus, it's a good thing you're here," said the officer with a sigh." I'm afraid that you have forgotten about the meeting session with the amateur Daemonist that was discussed earlier. All right, I will introduce the name of the amateur Daemonist who will be your apprentice, his name is Shaan Devansh."
"Okay, put the report on the table. Let me finish my cigarette first." Mr.Maximus held a lit cigarette while looking at the outdoor area in front of him.
"All right, Mr. Maximus, I'll put the simulation report on Shaan Devansh on your desk for your evaluation," said the officer, nodding his head. "If you'll excuse me, I'll take my leave now."
An instant silence fell over the place as the officer left, leaving Shaan together with Mr. Maximus outside. Mr. Maximus didn't even say a word and simply continued to smoke his cigarette casually, leaving Shaan standing like a statue for a while. Frankly, Shaan didn't know what to say to Mr. Maximus since this was the first time they had met.
"Uhmm... Mr.-".
"Shaan Devansh," Maximus threw away his cigarette, which was only a few centimeters long. "Tell me, why do you want to be a Daemonist?"
"Huh? Wait, I don't understand what you're saying at all."
"Just answer my question. Why do you want to become a Daemonist?"
"Because I want to protect the world from the threat of dark creatures," he said enthusiastically. "I don't want the world to continue to be in fear, and thus I must become the most powerful Daemonist to be able to eliminate the dark creatures' threat."
Hearing these words, Mr. Maximus was silent for a moment. "Interesting. I like your goal. It reminds me of someone I used to know," he said, slowly turning around until his figure finally came into view. "Hello, Shaan. Nice to meet you."
Shaan's face immediately tightened when he saw Maximus' face. Not because of his muscular body, sharp nose, blue eyes, or firm jaw, but because he saw a scar. A scar that looked like a beast's scratch on his right cheek. He did not know what could have caused it, but it was surely a personal thing that Shaan could not possibly ask about now.
"Come into the room. We will talk inside."
"Yes, Mr. Maximus."
Mr. Maximus then entered his room and began reading Shaan's simulation report, which had been placed on the table. His brow furrowed when he read it, indicating that there must be something important for Shaan to underline.
"Hmm... You indeed have a problem that must be solved." Mr. Maximus' face immediately looked serious. "Especially in managing your insanity level. If you can't control it well, you will only become a burden to the other Daemonists."
'Well, I do agree with what Mr. Maximus said. Managing the level of insanity is indeed not an easy thing to do.'
"But, what should I do to control my insanity level, so I can control it well?"
"Meditation and physical exercise," stated Mr. Maximus. "By doing regular physical exercise, it can help to reduce your stress and depression levels, which can be one of the triggers for your insanity levels to rise drastically. You will also have a strong physical endurance so that you will not have any difficulties when you are in the dark realm."
"What about Meditation?"
"By regularly practicing meditation, you can control the negative energy inside you and you can strengthen your bond with your Daemon to prevent your insanity level from rising easily," he explained. "However, there are some cases where certain daemons do have strong enough power to affect the Daemonist's insanity level. One of them is your daemon: Robin Hood."
'Good grief, no wonder my insanity level shot up so quickly.' Shaan fell silent for a moment. 'I had no idea about this before.'
"Robin Hood is not an easy Daemon to control, Shaan, why? Because this Daemon has its mindset that is sometimes not in line with yours. Therefore, you must train your meditation ability with your physical ability so that you can stay in sync with your Daemon."
"Yes, Mr. Maximus. I understand."
"If you want to become the strongest Daemon, you have to put a lot of effort into training your skills." Mr. Maximus smiled. "Remember this word, 'great power comes with great responsibility'. Therefore, I will give you very, very hard training, and I assure you that you will suffer greatly before you can fully control your Daemon."
Mr. Maximus' words instantly made Shaan speechless. From the words themselves, Shaan could already imagine how difficult the training would be. To be honest, there was a little doubt in his mind. Doubts that he would be able to undergo this training? Would he be able to survive in this place and become the strongest Daemonist like he had previously aspired to?
'No, I must not doubt myself.' Shaan shook his head, trying to dispel the negativity in his mind. 'This is the path I must take. The path to becoming the strongest Daemonist, and I'll do whatever it takes to do it.Whatever it takes!'
"So, how about it, Shaan? Are you ready?"
"Yes. I'm ready, Mr. Maximus," Shaan answered with confidence.
Hearing Shaan's assent, Mr. Maximus smiled widely. "Good, then come with me. We'll start our training right now."
