Chapter 43 - 3. Thimmappa and Gireesham road work

Two days later, Gireesham and Thimmappa met at a temple by coincidence. Gireesham "hello village head sir. How are the things going on?" greeted Thimmappa. Thimmappa with a stern face "oh! Gireesham, nothing new. Is something going on your side?" replied him and asked him the same question with the same expressionless expression. "Nothing new. I heard our Aparna caused a little trouble at your house. I've been thinking to come to your house to apologize for that. Good thing I met you here." Gireesham told him like he was feeling a little guilty about causing trouble to village head. Thimmappa laughed a little and "it's same with your son or your grand daughter. Both are alike standing in front of people in need or sad." with a hint of appreciation. Gireesham looked a little proud from those words about his family. Thimmappa continued "Gireesham, she is really kind. She couldn't stand a kid who's crying even though she's never met him before." Gireesham "that's what I'm worried about village head. I'm not sure if I should be happy that she's worried about them or worried if she might get herself into trouble because of her nature." replied with full of worry. Thimmappa pat his shoulder and "be proud of her. I can't make my grandson like that. He's easily scared." he added his worries about his grandson. Gireesham "you should stop reprimanding him all the time. Give him sometime to learn. He's not sacred when he's not with you and I heard he stopped playing with other kids recently to learn what you taught him.... I can't help but feel pity for the little boy." he advised to Thimmappa. Thimmappa slowly reminded of events he saw like his grandson not going out often and with palm leaf scriptures in his hand, helping his mother and grandmother in household work, helping his father in factory and farm affairs, he's trying his best to become what his grandfather wanted to become. He came to understand his grandson a little and "I think I should be grateful to your granddaughter for this. If she didn't bring him out to play I would have not noticed these things about my grandson" expressed his gratitude towards Aparna. Gireesham smiled an "you are exaggerating it village head" replied him. He looked at him and "would you like to send her to our house as my grand daughter?" Thimmappa said with a stern expression. Gireesham choked on his saliva "what are you talking about?" asked directly. Thimmappa "I mean, I would like my grandson and your grand daughter to be married to each other." explained his sentence. Gireesham let out a chuckle and " we can if they like each other in future." he replied. "My grandson will be more than happy to marry her." Thimmappa declared as if it was about him. Gireesham just let out a smile and "let the time decide." They talked about other things like their farms ,factories, village works etc before taking leave from each other. Gireesham thought about it and told his son about what Thimmappa told him. Obulesu remained calm and "if it is fine with them, we don't need to interfere with them right, father?" Gireesham smiled at his son as his response was exactly what he imagined. Thimmappa expressed his thoughts to his elder son Ramana Murthy.

Chandranna often played with Aparna and others but mostly with Siva and Karunakar, they studied together.

After five years Thimmappa died due to poor health.

Six years passed by, Aparnas grand parents went to travel around temples all over the country.

Two years later.... present

Ramana Murthy called his younger brother Krishna murthy.

"Brother, you've called for me?" Krishna murthy asked. Ramana Murthy gestured him to sit next to him on the cot "yes. Do you remember our father telling a about your son?" asked to confirm if he remembered. Krishna murthy "yes brother. Marriage between Chandranna and Aparna, right?" he replied. Murthy nodded and continued "I actually talked about this to Obulesu two years back when their parents went on journey, he said that Aparna's marriage will be at at 19th year. So I didn't mention it to you. Now she reached that age. What do you think of asking him again?" Krishna murthy replied "okay brother. We can talk to him again." Murthy nodded in content.

Krishna murthy informed this to his wife. His wife was beyond elated to hear that news, and was very eager to bring her to their house as soon as possible. She immediately shared this news with her son who was just standing still without any movement as he heard this.

Murthy met Obulesu at the village tree, "Obulesu, I need to talk about an important matter. Can I?" Murthy asked hesitantly. Seeing his hesitation made Obulesu a little uneasy and "Tell me village head." he replied to murthy. Murthy started "you remember our parents talking about our children marriage right? Can we proceed with that.?" asked as he looked at him for his answer. Obulesu nodded "I remember Murthy. But we need to talk to our children before we can proceed further. If they are fine with that, I don't have any objections" he answered the last sentence with a bright expression showing he's really happy if that happens. Murthy smiled in satisfaction and so does Obulesu. Murthy "our son doesn't have any objections. In fact he likes her a little too much and is eagerly waiting to marry her." told his response from his son. "That's awesome. I will talk to my daughter once and tell you the results. If it goes okay, we can proceed with other traditions as usual." expressed his thoughts. After that they talked for a while before bidding farewell.

Obulesu kept thinking about this all the way his home. He knew he had to address this once Aparna reached the age he told him. He once told about this to his wife when his father told him. She expressed herself excitedly as they all are kind people, and Aparna will be happy in a house like that.

Obilesu went to his home and sat to eat his food "What do you think about Aparna's marriage? Village head talked to me about this today. I didn't answer him exactly but told I will be considering Aparna's opinion. What you think? " she replied "as long as she like it." Obulesu nodded and they decide to first discuss it with Karunakar and then Aparna.
