Chapter 198 - Chapter 196: Whispers from the Dark

---

It had been a peaceful month since the Festival of Unity.

Chirag and Siya were enjoying quiet days, helping rebuild villages, training young warriors in self-control, and guiding the world with kindness. The world was slowly becoming the dream they had fought for.

But peace is not always permanent.

Deep beneath the surface of the earth, in the Forgotten Abyss, something ancient was waking up.

---

A Strange Dream

One night, Chirag had a strange dream.

He was standing in a black forest, surrounded by trees that whispered in a language he couldn't understand. Shadows moved around him like mist. In the center of the forest stood a stone gate, covered in chains and glowing symbols.

As he stepped closer, he heard a deep voice whisper, "The seal is cracking… the silence is breaking…"

Suddenly, the ground beneath him shook, and the chains began to snap one by one.

Chirag woke up with a gasp. Sweat covered his face.

Siya sat up beside him. "Chirag? Another nightmare?"

He nodded. "Not just a nightmare. A warning."

Meeting the Elders

The next day, Chirag and Siya visited the Temple of Origins, where the oldest beings of the world lived. These were the Elders—creatures born at the beginning of time. They knew secrets even gods didn't.

The High Elder, a creature made of stars and wind, greeted them calmly. "You saw the Gate of Shadows in your dream."

Chirag nodded. "Yes. I think something inside it is trying to escape."

The Elder closed his glowing eyes. "Long ago, before even the Rulers ruled, a great evil known as Nyvros was sealed in the Forgotten Abyss. Its power could bend reality, twist time, and erase hope itself. If that gate breaks... the world may fall into darkness again."

Siya asked, "What can we do to stop it?"

"There is only one way," the Elder said. "You must find the Three Lightkeepers. Only their power can restore the seal. But be warned—they are scattered across dangerous lands, and each has forgotten who they are."

Chirag took Siya's hand. "Then we'll help them remember."

---

The First Lightkeeper: Ember of the Desert

Their first journey led them to the Golden Dunes, a vast desert where the sun never set.

The people there spoke of a girl named Ember, who lived in the sandstorms and never aged. Some believed she was a mirage. Others said she was cursed.

After days of travel, Chirag and Siya reached the center of the desert, where the air shimmered like fire. Suddenly, a sandstorm rose from the ground, surrounding them.

Out of the dust stepped a girl with glowing eyes and flames in her hair. She looked no older than 16, but her aura was ancient.

"I am Ember," she said. "Why do you disturb my slumber?"

Chirag stepped forward. "You are one of the Lightkeepers. The world needs you. A great darkness is rising."

Ember frowned. "Lightkeeper? I don't remember... I've lived in this storm for so long, I forgot everything."

Siya walked to her gently. "Let us help you remember. Your light still burns. You just need to trust us."

Suddenly, the storm around them stopped. Ember closed her eyes, and memories rushed back—her past, her duty, her purpose.

When she opened them again, her flames burned brighter.

"I remember now. I will come with you."

---

The Second Lightkeeper: Guardian of the Lake

Their next journey took them to the Misty Lakes, a place where the water was so still, it reflected dreams.

At the center of the largest lake was a small island. Only a boat made of moonlight could reach it. With Ember's help, they created one and rowed through the mist.

On the island, they found a young man sitting on a rock, playing a silver flute. As he played, fish danced in the air, and flowers bloomed on the water's surface.

"I know why you're here," he said softly without turning. "I am Lyric, the second Lightkeeper. But I do not wish to return."

Chirag frowned. "Why not?"

Lyric looked into the water. "Because last time, I failed. I let darkness spread. I don't deserve to hold the light again."

Siya sat beside him. "But you've kept this lake alive with your music. That's not failure. That's hope."

Ember added, "We need your strength. Not because you're perfect, but because you still care."

Lyric looked at them, tears in his eyes. Then he stood, his body glowing with silver light.

"I will try again," he said. "For the world."

The Third Lightkeeper: Frozen in Time

The last Lightkeeper was the hardest to find.

She was trapped in the Ice Caverns of the North, frozen in a crystal coffin. Her name was Eira, the Keeper of Light's Memory.

It was said she had sacrificed her body to stop a great disaster, and her spirit wandered in dreams.

Chirag, Siya, Ember, and Lyric entered the caverns carefully. As they reached Eira's tomb, a ghostly figure appeared—her soul.

"I've waited for someone to awaken me," Eira whispered. "But time is thin here. If you break the crystal wrongly, I will vanish forever."

Chirag closed his eyes and summoned the Eternal Flame.

"This fire healed even death," he said. "It can bring you back."

With great care, he melted the crystal without burning her. As the last piece cracked, Eira's soul returned to her body. She gasped and opened her eyes, glowing with pure light.

"I remember," she said softly. "I am ready."

---

A New Seal

With all three Lightkeepers awakened, they returned to the Temple of Origins.

The Elders stood in a circle around the sealed gate of the Forgotten Abyss. The ground shook. One final chain was cracking.

The Lightkeepers held hands, and their lights combined—flame, water, and crystal. They created a new seal, stronger than before.

The gate stopped shaking.

The whispers disappeared.

Peace returned.

---

Aftermath

As the sun rose, Chirag and Siya stood with the Lightkeepers, watching the horizon.

"You've done something no one else could," Ember said. "You reminded us who we are."

Siya smiled. "That's what love does. It gives light to others."

Lyric added, "If darkness returns again, we will be ready. Together."

Eira looked at Chirag. "You carry light stronger than all of us. Not because of your powers—but because of your heart."

Chirag didn't know what to say. So he just smiled.
