"Rongrong, stop teasing us. Does your fourth soul skill have any additional effects?" Ning Tianchen couldn't help but ask.

The defensive amplification only strengthened the user themselves, so the added turtle shell likely had other functions.

With her index finger lightly tapping her lips, Ning Rongrong deliberately slowed her speech. "Mmm~ My fourth soul skill can provide an extra layer of turtle shell protection for my teammates."

"This shell can withstand most attacks from Soul Ancestors. Non-power-oriented soul masters won't be able to shatter it."

Isn't this specifically designed to counter Tang San?

Ning Tianchen couldn't help but think bitterly to himself.

Most of Tang San's hidden weapons could only threaten Soul Elders. It was foreseeable that once Ning Rongrong unleashed her fourth soul skill, Tang San would be left helpless.

"A super martial soul paired with a rare soul beast truly produces remarkable soul skills," Ke Jie said, genuinely pleased for her.

After her martial soul evolved into the Nine-Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda, Ning Rongrong now had the potential to break through to become a Title Douluo in the future.

The amplification provided by the Nine-Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda's soul skills would increase as her cultivation level rose. It was hard to imagine what kind of scene would unfold when Ning Rongrong used this soul skill in the future.

"The Saratan Giant Turtle is already rare, let alone one with such a perfect age. This little girl sure has good luck," Dugu Bo muttered inwardly, feeling a twinge of envy.

Why did all the good things always go to the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect? When would it be their turn, him and his granddaughter?

"With this soul skill, our chances of winning in the Soul Masters Tournament just increased significantly," Yu Die remarked with a light laugh.

"By the way, Rongrong, how much soul power does your fourth soul skill consume?" Ning Tianchen quickly asked.

The duration of the turtle shell was only about a minute. If the soul power consumption wasn't too high, this could definitely be considered an overpowered soul skill.

Ning Rongrong chuckled dryly. "Just now, amplifying all six of you drained most of my soul power. But I'm only at Level 41 right now. Once my soul power level increases, I should be able to use it more times."

"In a soul battle, this will be your trump card. Unless absolutely necessary, it's best not to use it recklessly," Ke Jie said, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

In a soul battle, Ning Rongrong would inevitably use her first three soul skills.

If she used her fourth soul skill as well, her remaining soul power would be minimal. For her own safety, she would then have to leave the arena.

With everyone gaining new soul skills, tactical arrangements became another headache.

---

On the first day in the forest, two people obtained soul rings, but in the following days, they didn't find any suitable soul beasts.

Dugu Bo knew the habitats of various soul beasts, but soul beasts weren't stationary—they would actively leave their territories.

Out of options, Dugu Bo led the group to hunt down the stagnant black python.

After absorbing its soul ring, Dugu Yan's soul power reached Level 45, second only to Feng Xiaotian, who was at Level 46.

Three days later, the group encountered an attack from a Phantom Cat Demon.

This cat demon was exactly 1,500 years old and was absorbed by Zhu Zhuqing as her third soul ring.

After absorbing the soul ring, her soul power level matched Chen Huayu's, both reaching Level 37.

During this time while they were hunting soul beasts, the Shrek group didn't idle either.

One day, the four monsters of Shrek arrived at the training ground. In front of them stood the original timeline's substitute members of Shrek Academy.

"I'm Tai Long, martial soul is Mighty Ape, a Level 38 power-type Battle Soul Elder."

"Jiang Zhu, a Level 36 auxiliary-type Soul Elder."

The other two were Jing Ling and Huang Yuan, both at Level 37.

After careful consideration, Yu Xiaogang added Tai Long and Jiang Zhu to the team as official members, while Jing Ling and Huang Yuan became substitutes.

Currently, the Shrek team had only six official members. The remaining spot was reserved for Yu Tianheng.

"Teacher Yu, will Tianheng come?" Dai Mubai couldn't help but ask.

"Tang San is speaking on behalf of the teacher. Has anyone ever seen the teacher deceive us?" Tang San said confidently, his face full of assurance.

(T/N: Bro got scammed the most and is verifying for the scammer smh)

Cough, cough.

Clearing his throat lightly, Yu Xiaogang continued, "Starting today, I'll be your team leader. To quickly improve your coordination, starting tonight, we'll hold a team soul battle every day in the Great Soul Arena."

The Shrek team had been blacklisted by the Suotuo Great Soul Arena, but they were unaffected in the Tiandou Great Soul Arena. They just needed to reapply for soul battle badges and start over.

---

Time flew like a white horse passing through a crevice, and in the blink of an eye, a month had passed.

During this time, the group's luck seemed to have run out—they hadn't encountered a single suitable soul beast.

"The Pink Queen doesn't have a fixed habitat. The entire species roams around the forest in search of food. Finding them requires patience," Ning Tianchen reminded Oscar, noticing his impatience.

After spending a month in the forest, the group inevitably felt a bit weary.

Ke Jie observed their condition and announced, "We'll search for three more days. If we don't find anything, we'll return to the outer soul beast town, rest for a few days, and then re-enter the forest."

"Oscar, don't rush. Some people are unlucky and spend half a year in the forest before finding a suitable soul beast."

"We'll rest here tonight. Everyone take turns keeping watch."

Not long after setting up the camp, Oscar eagerly approached Ning Tianchen. "What if I change my fourth soul ring to a different soul beast?"

"Already losing patience?" Ning Tianchen smirked faintly as he looked at him.

Oscar scratched his head. "I've never spent this much time in the forest. I feel strangely restless."

"That's normal. Since you don't want to rest, let's chat here for a while." Ning Tianchen placed his hand on Oscar's shoulder and gently patted it, using conversation to distract him.

Their discussion lasted a long time, continuing deep into the night.

Ning Tianchen stretched lazily. "Let's go inside and rest. It's Xiaotian's turn to keep watch for the second half of the night."

"Wait." Oscar tugged at his sleeve and pointed around them with his other hand. "Why is there fog?"

Ning Tianchen rubbed his eyes and finally noticed that white mist had risen around them without them realizing it.

It was normal for white mist to appear in forests during spring or autumn nights, but it was currently summer—not the appropriate season.

As the gentle breeze blew, the mist drew closer to the campsite. Ning Tianchen immediately became alert, scanning the mist for any suspicious signs.

At this moment, Feng Xiaotian, who was preparing to take over Ning Tianchen's watch, walked out of the tent rubbing his eyes.

"Tianchen, you all go inside and rest. I'll take over for the second half of the night."

As he spoke, he was surprised to find that the area around the tents was already enveloped in mist.

This wasn't a good sign.

Visibility was obstructed in the mist, and it was nighttime. If any soul beasts approached, they wouldn't have time to react.

"There's something strange about this mist—it might have been released by a soul beast," Feng Xiaotian said warily, glancing around while moving closer to Ning Tianchen's position.

"Oscar, wake everyone up quietly. I can sense that this mist has the ability to block perception," Ning Tianchen said gravely.

A thousand-year soul beast couldn't possibly release such dense fog.

The source of this mist was likely a high-level soul beast.
