I blinked rapidly, unable to believe my ears. My gaze sought and held Dr Cole's whose expression showed just how shocked he too was.
I didn't realize that I had shouted until Idris hurried back into the ward, his gaze searching frantically for mine, panic-stricken. His agitation increased when he caught sight of my expression.
What's going on? He asked with his eyes but I was busting with so much excitement to form any words.
"This is nothing short of a miracle!" Dr Cole exclaimed, and I couldn't agree with him less. It was our miracle, Nicole's and mine. Speaking of Nicole, I turned towards her to catch the look on her face. She was completely confused, and I could tell why.
Doctor Cole extracted the ultrasound from Nicole, and reinserted it to be sure, and yes, the heartbeat was still there. I wasn't sure how I felt at the moment, happiness was not enough adjective to describe my mood at the moment.
