Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: Inside and Outside the City

Any creature appears extremely fragile in the face of high explosives. Even though this was a Tyrant that had normalized into its second form, after the smoke cleared, it was still half-kneeling on the ground, letting out a howl that seemed to be filled with pain.

At the same time, in a forested area of Roanapur, a dozen military-green tents marked with the Umbrella Corporation logo were arranged under the dense trees.

Inside the largest tent in the center, an old man sat in a wheelchair with his eyes closed, deep in thought.

"Alex, how is the plan progressing?"

After a while, he suddenly spoke, asking the blonde woman in her thirties standing beside him.

"We have already deployed all the B.O.W.s into the city, including ten T103-type Tyrants and four Tyrants carrying rocket launchers. Among them is the one Sergei recovered, the Tyrant that can now stably maintain its second form. Sergei himself has also entered the city with his Ivan-type Tyrant," said the blonde woman, Alex Wesker.

"Mm." The old man nodded.

"But..." Alex hesitated for a moment and said.

"But what?" The old man opened his eyes, slightly raised his head, and looked at her.

"Right after we deployed those B.O.W.s, several armed forces appeared in the city," Alex said. "Just now, we've already lost three Tyrants."

"That's not surprising, Alex. They've been watching us all along. These losses are acceptable," the old man smiled calmly. "As long as we can capture that person, the one who hasn't been infected with the virus yet can physically fight a Tyrant, only then can my wish truly be fulfilled. There is definitely something on him that I want."

"But... are you really that sure that he hasn't been infected by the virus?" Alex asked with doubt.

"Of course." The old man nodded slightly. "The human body is a miraculous thing. I… have seen it before..."

———

On the other side of the city, near the sea, there were several tents also bearing the Umbrella Corporation's logo.

From one of the tents, a blonde girl stepped out.

She was young, but her eyes revealed a seasoned air. Hearing the sound of gunfire from within the city, she said to the brother who stood beside her like a loyal dog, "Go prepare the helicopter. We're going into the city to take a look."

"Alright, my dear sister." The brother glanced at her with a sickly look in his eyes, then turned and left.

While waiting for the branch's helicopter, she suddenly seemed to sense something. She turned her head and looked into the distance, where a person seemed to be standing.

"Persistent bastard." Her face instantly turned gloomy as she touched her chest. The feeling of being hit by a linear particle cannon at the Antarctic research facility recently seemed to return again.

"Damn it, dear father. Are you really that afraid of me? To deal with me, you actually developed that kind of weapon." She cursed again in hatred.

"But my experiment still succeeded. Although not quite complete yet, at the very least, I already possess the foundation to rule the world." Her face turned into a confident smile again. "Just you wait, Wesker. You will also submit beneath my feet."

———

Looking at the half-kneeling Tyrant, Aiden gave a thumbs-up to Roberta, then pressed his violently beating heart to suppress the urge to rip the Tyrant apart due to the hormone stimulation. After that, he took out an M72 LAW man-portable rocket launcher from the system space.

This thing was shockingly small, under 70 centimeters in carry mode, completely stuffable into a bag. So when Aiden took it out, no one would question where he pulled it from.

He skillfully slid open the sleeve, aimed at the Tyrant, and prepared to blast it into pieces while it was still immobile.

But at that moment, the Tyrant suddenly raised its head and let out a terrifying roar. Then, the tentacles on its body suddenly shot toward nearby corpses and living people.

"What the hell is this?" Aiden froze for a moment at the sight, but quickly reacted and decisively fired the rocket, then threw away the launcher and jumped aside to dodge the flailing tentacles.

BOOM!

Just as he jumped away, the rocket struck the Tyrant. The rocket, capable of easily destroying light armor targets, blasted it into several pieces.

"Ha, nice job." Seeing the monster die, Revy jumped out from cover, ignoring Dutch and Roberta, pounced onto Aiden, and kissed him hard.

Then she got off Aiden, picked up the discarded launcher, and exclaimed in surprise, "What model is this? It's so small."

"M72 LAW model rocket. I've used this thing before," said Dutch as he walked over. "A disposable guy. Decent power, but its strength is in portability."

"Oh!" Revy nodded, then threw away the launcher.

At that moment, Roberta walked over, shouldering her grenade launcher, and said to Aiden and the others, "Those guys ran off."

She was referring to the EO mercenaries.

"Don't bother with them," Aiden said as he glanced at the Tyrant's corpse on the ground. "We still have a lot to do. Before the situation becomes uncontrollable, we must finish clearing out the B.O.W.s in the city."

After that, they left and began heading to other districts. They passed through several streets in a row, but found that someone had already cleaned these places up ahead of them. Aiden even saw the corpse of a Tyrant.

This Tyrant died in its regular form, with a huge, clean, piercing wound in its chest. It was unknown what weapon caused it.

But for Aiden and the others, this was good news. At least, they were not alone.

Shortly after Aiden's group left, a team of EO mercenaries arrived at the location where they fought the Tyrant.

"The Colonel said someone is willing to pay a high price for the corpses of these monsters," an officer told his subordinates. "Collect all these corpse parts and tentacles."

"Yes."

The mercenaries all responded in unison and began collecting the Tyrant's tentacles and body parts. Soon, they had gathered all the pieces and stacked them together.

"Disgusting stuff." A mercenary kicked a tentacle at his feet and said.

"Who told us to run into this kind of situation," another mercenary interjected. "Anyway, as long as there's money, we'll do anything."

"True." The first mercenary nodded, then spat on the tentacle at his feet. "Filthy thing."

But to his surprise, the tentacle under his foot suddenly began to wriggle as if it had come to life.

"What's going on?" That mercenary was terrified and quickly ran off.

But it was already too late, because all the tentacles they had collected began writhing.

In the next moment, screams echoed through the street.

In fact, so-called bioterrorism isn't much for a prepared army or armed force. Most B.O.W.s are not a big deal in the face of firearms. After all, even capturing a prepared city requires great sacrifice from the army, let alone B.O.W.s, which besides being cost-effective, are inferior to the military in every way.

Their only advantage is being cheap. Moreover, the companies researching viruses have gone astray, focusing only on elite units, so in terms of cost-effectiveness, they're not even ahead by much.

Places like Raccoon City, which eventually fell to a virus outbreak and was nuked, were merely accidents. If not for the indifference of multiple forces and the city government's deliberate negligence, Raccoon City could have been saved in the early stages of the outbreak.

So now, although Roanapur's situation seemed terrible, once time entered the second half of the night, the situation changed.

Not to mention the unexpected participation of EO mercenaries and the U.S. special forces led by Echo Squad Six, Roanapur's gang forces also became increasingly proficient and began clearing B.O.W.s and zombies.

The situation in the city seemed to stabilize at once. However, this kind of stability was only temporary.

Around 2 a.m., Umbrella's European division finally prepared to take the field. They dispatched several helicopters, ready to fly to Roanapur.

Appearing alongside them was the U.S. division, which had been observing the city's situation for a long time. And the current leader of this division was none other than… Alexia Ashford.

At this moment, she sat at the top floor of a tall building, leisurely sipping coffee.

Her eyes, turned golden due to virus infection, could see clearly into every dark corner of the city.

The scene of Aiden fighting the Tyrant was seen clearly by her.

"So that's the one Spencer wants to capture?" Alexia muttered. "How strange. He seems able to control his adrenaline secretion and become suddenly excited. Also… how did he summon that rocket launcher? Hm, I'm curious too."

———

After several hours of battle, Aiden's group returned to the upper district near the Moscow Hotel.

At this time, the sound of gunfire throughout the city had become very sparse.

There, they ran into the Moscow Hotel and Triad members who had returned to rest.

Dutch was an old hand in Roanapur. He looked around and found that while the Moscow Hotel and Triad suffered some losses, their core strength remained intact. In contrast, the small and medium-sized gangs that fought alongside them were mostly wiped out, he only saw a few familiar faces.

"From now on, Roanapur will only have the Moscow Hotel and the Triad," Dutch thought silently.

In fact, Balalaika and Mr. Chang thought the same. Although their men had some casualties and the city suffered some damage, it seemed worth it.

Now, only their two major gangs still had sufficient combat strength. Other small gangs had either fled or died. The survivors, seeing the situation clearly, would probably surrender to them as well.

At that point, they could request reinforcements from headquarters and expand again, using Roanapur as their foundation.

Of course… this had nothing to do with Aiden.
