The undead knight charged at full speed, its unholy armor clattering with every thunderous step. Alex felt a strange rage ignite within him, like a storm that consumed his fear. His heart pounded against his ribs, each beat echoing the approaching knight's relentless advance. With trembling hands, he gripped the axe's handle, splinters biting into his palms. The sudden assault had startled him, yet a primal instinct of rage surged alongside his Fear. His veins bulged as he wrenched the axe free from the tree, the force of the motion sending a shower of bark into the air. Planting his feet firmly, Alex steadied himself, adrenaline coursing through his veins as he braced to face the undead knight head on.
Alex could feel his veins racing as he did a vertical swipe while jumping from top of the tree right onto the undead knight, the knight threw a punch in retaliation to the axe as the axe and the metal glove of the knight clashed resulting in sparks flying in different directions. Alex firmly planted his feet on the ground upon landing as he started swinging his axe left and right, sending a flurry of cuts and swipes against the monster before it could launch another attack. The undead knight simply pulled in both his hands in front of his face like a human as it protected it's head. the already burning red hot armor threw the sparks left and right as the sharp axe left deep marks on the metal. the glove of the undead knight was split open as alex could see the bony hand inside the armor.
Alex was surprised that the undead gave such humane reaction but it was within his expectation as the high level undead retained their memories and maybe some fighting experience from when they were alive. Suddenly the undead knight finally made its move as it lifted it's leg and kicked Alex squarely in chest amidst his relentless assault.
*Crack!*
There was a chilling sound of bone cracking as the body of Alex flew back folded like a pillow. his body crashed into a tree behind him as he fell down on the ground with a thud, the dried leaves fell from the tree from the impact as Alex coughed up some blood. he took a breadth and looked at his chest. The rib bones of the undead bear were cracked and only leftover impact was released on his body.
Alex slowly stood up as he looked at the burning undead knight as he finally calmed down. the strange rage disappeared as he slowly backed off. the burning undead knight was walking at a slow pace now as it the puny human in front of him was already dead.
Unfortunately the horror it expected to see on the face of the human standing in front of him never appeared. there was only expression of pain and a slight smile. The undead knight stopped as it looked at alex showing such reaction, it was baffled at this strange behaviour until it heard a strange snap. strings and lather that held together some of the armor pieces were finally burned off.
Shoulderpads, knee caps and other loose armour pieces fell off the body of the undead knight one by one as a bare skeleton wearing metal gloves and shoes was in view of Alex, the skeleton didn't care as it lunged towards Alex trying to take back it's axe, Alex was prepared as he met the claw attack with an elbow of his own as the bone of the undead bear hidden in his sleeve took the brunt of the force from undead knight.
As the skeleton's focus was on the axe, Alex took the thigh bone of the bear from his back and delivered a devastating strike with his left hand at the face of the skeleton.
The undead knight staggered back as alex let go of the thigh bone and delivered a punch to the joint on undead knights hand. The impact was loud as Alex was able to successfully able to break off the hand of the skeleton.
There was rage clearly visible in the eyes of the undead knight as it finally used it's first skill. The hollow eye sockets of the skeleton lit up with strange ghostly blue flames as the undead knight raised his hand while backing off.
Alex knew this skill. Raise undead was the standard skill of the elite level undeads. The ground split open as one by one skeletal hands poked out of the earth around him. Alex once again cast the immolate skill on the undead knight as he grabbed the thigh bone of the undead bear.
The skeleton were numerous but didn't stand a chance against alex as he sent their heads flying one by one. His strength had increased more than any ordinary humans and the skeleton which were the most basic level mob were beaten one by one.
The undead knight could feel the pain of the flames as it felt the death approaching. the armour protecting it was failing and one by one his bones were catching on fire. finally looking at alex busy engaging the skeletons, it decided to use the second skill.
Although it had not mastered the skill yet, there was short time left before he turned to ash because of the flames. the undead knight raised it's remaining hand and put it against his own chest as it spoke in strange ancient undead language.
Alex on the other hand felt a strong chill of fear as he heard the clattering of the jaws of undead knight. he had read it in one of the books in the library that the undead with ancient roots can use the undead language to boost the power of their skills.
'I need to calm down, there is a high chance that he is going to use either undead's roar or the death's call. by his hand gesture, it seems to be death's call. i need to kill him before he can complete the skill's full cycle or else, i would be surrounded by the skeleton army. '
The death's call was a beacon type skill which would alert the low level undeads of a large area to concentrate and attack the enemy of the skill user. for the undead knight to complete the skill, he would have to send a death attribute mana blast in the sky and just like the undead roar, it would take some time to gather that amount of mana.
Alex's plan was to wait for the undead knight to reveal it's trump card so that he can decide if he wanted to continue fighting or leave the battlefield, he also had many life saving options in his bag that he could use to escape but the undead knight was a huge source of experience that he couldn't let go.
Alex finally decided to risk it all as he swiped with the bone in a circular motion, he then focused on undead knight and focused on the energy gathering above the undead knight's head. He swiftly switched to the axe as he aimed at the head of the undead knight. the bulging veins could be seen in his hands as he sent the axe flying with all his might.
the undead knight saw the axe coming towards it's head, its hollow eyes focused as it opened it's mouth and caught the axe in a vice like grip in it's mouth. the axe came to stop as alex could see that some of the teeth were broken from the force but there was no serious damage to the undead knight that could stop it from casting the skill.
