Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Prologue

The sound of celebratory music, a venue adorned with flowers and blessings from the people—the day when the bride and groom would vow to accept one another.A wedding, which should mark the beginning of love, but in truth… it was the end of "freedom."

When the ceremony ended…

She snapped. Her voice trembled, yet fierce with frustration.

"Because of you…! My freedom, my future, everything I ever dreamed of—ruined! If you hadn't proposed that ridiculous marriage in the first place, I would've lived happily! Even if we're married now, don't ever think I'll love you!"

He stood still, a mix of guilt and helplessness in his eyes.

"I'm sorry… I never thought it would turn out like this. At the start, I was simply curious about you. But I didn't expect my family would go so far as to propose marriage."

Her voice rose again, sharper this time.

"That's your problem! But in the end, it is your fault things turned out this way, isn't it!? You can apologize a thousand times, but that won't change the fact that we're married! Someone like you… during all our time at the academy, you never once spoke to me, never even tried to get to know me. And now, out of nowhere, I'm forced to marry a complete stranger? You say you love me? That's just laughable."

He clenched his fists, forcing himself to keep calm.

"You're right. This all started because of me. I won't try to deny that. All I can say is… I'm sorry. But the feelings I've had for you—secretly loving you all this time—those are real. I'm not asking you to love me now. I won't force you. But I'll keep showing you how I feel. I'll earn your heart in time."

Time passed...

And in that time, he never pressured her. He never demanded her love.Instead, he respected her. Always.Even as a year passed, and the second year began, he stayed by her side.Quietly, patiently. And she began to notice.

The wall she built—once so firm, so laced with resentment—began to crumble.Little by little.

She started speaking to him more, started interacting more often. And naturally… she began to like the man before her.

Everything seemed to be going well.Their married life was beginning to feel… right.

But not all things go as hoped.

The war between humans and demons was intensifying. The empire stood at the brink—facing internal strife and enemies from beyond.

Demons began encroaching on human lands. And Kairos—he who bore the greatest gift of strength—was called again and again to the battlefield.

He had become the final light, the last hope of humankind.

And so, he went to war. Again… and again…

Fiona could feel the worry growing inside her.Though their bond had deepened, she still hesitated to call that feeling "love."All she could do… was show small signs of care. But even that—was enough for him.

"Um…"

"…Yeah?"

"Please… be safe."

He smiled gently.

"Just those words are more than enough."

And then… he left.

Love—so sweet, so warm—had almost made her forget the harsh truth of war.

A place where mercy did not exist. Not even for a man with godlike talent.

She believed he would return.Everyone believed.

Because Kairos's gift was not ordinary.

He was the kind of genius humanity would see only once in a millennium—No… the only one in all of history.

Since childhood, he had outshone everyone.Even in the academy, there was no equal.

And because of that unshakable belief that he was "invincible,"no one ever imagined that Kairos… would die.
