It's 7pm, prom is finally here, and I get to go to prom with my crush. I was gonna meet up with Jeremy at his house and bianca meets with stephany at her house.
Walking down the stairs I thought— what if what happened to me last night was just me day dreaming?, what if non of it was real, what if I was hallucinating?.
My plan was to have a beautiful evening, with a girl I always liked eversince we were kids and am going to make sure nothing happens.
I looked myself in the mirror, I was wearing a suit pressed, navy with black lapels, a tie that matched my shoes, shoes I spent over twenty minutes polishing even though I knew they'd get scuffed. Jeremy and me planned to wear thesame thing so… I guess it's time for prom.
I took my mom's car, she borrowed me for the evening, and she also told me not to scratch it. Whatever i do this evening i need to return that car in one piece.
I finally arrived at Jeremy's house but to my greatest surprise he was done getting ready and it looked like he wanted to get into his car. So I pulled up in front of his house with my head lights flashing directly at him.
"Dude, were you planning to go without me?," I asked.
"No dumbass, I just thought maybe you were planning on sitting this one out, I was on my way to get your ass up and into the car," Jeremy said.
"Why would I plan on sitting prom out, when the girl I've had a crush on is my girlfriend and my date?," I asked, my voice stayed calm, but I could feel one of my eyebrows pulling up.
" well, you know… lately…," Jeremy said.
"Dude am fine, I promise, let's just get out of here and go pick up the girls," I said.
"Oh, well thank God, let's get going then," Jeremy said.
But I don't think I was really fine, while me and Jeremy were talking I could feel the presence of someone but I didn't see who, and I didn't want Jeremy thinking that something was wrong. Maybe it's my hallucinations?. I hope so at least.
We were driving through the dark, the road stretched out ahead like a ribbon disappearing into nothing.
The headlights carved tunnels of light through the black, but everything beyond that was just shadow and silence. I couldn't shake the feeling—like there was someone behind us. Not just a car, someone. I kept glancing at the rearview mirror, half-expecting headlights, half-hoping I was just being paranoid. But the unease sat heavy in my chest refusing to go away.
This night's feeling is different from the previous night, and definitely different from the nights before that night, but the real thing that when through my mind was—why did this night feel like a stranger?.
We finally got to Stephany's, and yeah, it looked as good as the first time.
As soon as we parked, the car engine still humming in the quiet night, the girls stepped out from the side door—like they'd been waiting for us to arrive. It was almost uncanny, the exact moment we stopped, they appeared, as if the timing had been perfectly planned.
There they where, two beautiful young ladies.
Bianca looked like she had stepped out of a dream. Her dress was pale silver, shimmering softly like moonlight, with tiny crystals scattered across the bodice like stars. It hugged her at the waist before flowing out into layers of light, floating fabrics that moved when she did—elegant, effortless, almost unreal. Her hair was swept to one side.
Next to her, Stephany was also beautiful. Her dress was deep crimson, bold and unapologetic, with a high slit that flashed with every step and a neckline that dared you to look away. The fabric clung and fierce, like she was ready to fight and dance—or both. She wore black heels like armor. Stephany didn't just wear a dress, she owned it.
"Oh, my ,God," Jeremy said with his mouth slightly open.
"Wow, you girls really went all in," I said, my eyes unable to look away from bianca.
" And you guys went with the twin brothers suit look, you guys look great," Stephany said.
" Thanks, well what do you expect, that's why we're…dude close your mouth," I said.
" uhm…yeah, sorry, you guys are just… fire," Jeremy said.
"Thanks," the both said.
Bianca's smile was truly doing something to me, I would pay to watch her smile, I just felt like all my problems disappeared that moment.
"Dude, when you done daydreaming, let me know so we could go," Jeremy said before he laughed.
" ha ha ha, says the guy with open drawers," I said.
" Come on guys we don't want to arrive after the part," bianca said.
" yeah sure, let's get out of here," Jeremy said.
Jeremy opened the door of his car for Stephany, I opened the door of my car for bianca. I don't know why guys do that, the girl clearly has hands to do so, but whatever, it's romantic and that's what a gentle man does.
