Both Merlin and Kane got out of the infirmary and headed for their respective classes. Having been caught there by the teacher on duty, they had no other choice.
We'll talk more about this later . We'll meet at Elizabeth's office after school.
Merlin's orders ringed in his mind. Kane couldn't understan how Merlin, despite the major changes the world had undergone, was calm and composed. Kane was on the verge of losing his mind, not knowing what to do in that kind of situation. The best option he had was to play off as if everything was normal but even that would prove to be a challange. He couldn't affirm whether they had been transported to the past or were in a parallel universe. Either way, he had to manage somehow.
Kane began thinking back on the good times he had with his phone, the tv and most importantly, the internet.
" What the hell am I supposed to use for entertainment." He shouted out loud." It's like the gods want me to play hopscotch for the rest of my life." Kane calmed down upon realizing that the commotion he was causing would most likely attract the attention of the teachers.
He eventually got to his class and opened the door only to see the person who he would have never wanted to encounter ever. It was Miss Alisa, right in the middle of her lesson. Kane looked at her. In her long dress, she didn't look much different than when the world was normal.
" I'm sorry for being late Miss Alisa." Kane apologised and took a bow. He was patiently waiting to recieve either a scolding or a punishment of a lifetime.
" There's no need to apologise, I'm sure there's a good reason why you are late. Just hurry up and take your seat." Miss Alisa said in a soft and gentle voice. She gave him a big smile.
Kane was in shock as he couldn't believe that that was actually Miss Alisa. Kane knew for a fact that no matter how good of a reason he presented, there was no way she would jusy play it off like it was nothing. And he hadn't even given a reason at all. Even if the world had ever so slightly changed. That's when an idea popped into his head.
Aha! I know what she's trying to do. She intends to have me lower my guard by brushing off the matter and once I'm not paying any attention, she'll strike... Kane thought to himself.
From his super deduction skills, it was most probable that he was going straight into a trap. Despite knowing that that might be the case, he reluctuntly went in. As Kane got into the classroom, he felt a hand approaching him from behind. Out of pure reflex, he turned and toook hold of the hand before tripping the person and striking. His fist stopped half an inch from her face as soon as he saw the expression on her face.
Miss Alisa was on the floor, looking at Kane with a fearful expression. Her eyes had began to water up, signalling her battle to hold back her tears. The whole class was dumbfounded by his actions.
" What do you think you're doing Kane?" Echoed a voice from the back. Kane identified it as the class prefect, Natalie Anastesia. She was a fair maiden that had long black hair and an air of authority around her.
She stood up from her desk and walked towards Kane with an angered expression. By that time, Kane had let go of Miss Alisa's hand and rose. He stretched forth his hand and offered to help her up.
" I'm sorry Miss Alisa. It was an accident. I didn't mean to attack you."
Miss Alisa didn't seem to buy his apology and move slightly back as her fear of him only rose. Kane turned to Natalie who greeted him with a slap at the cheek. Kane instinctively held his cheek in shock.
" It was only an accident?" Natalie bitterly asked Kane.
Kane looked at Natalie.
" Yes, it was only an accident. I didn't mean to attack her."
Natalie instantly responded with another slap to which Kane managed to stop by getting hold of her hand.
" Let go of me you scoundrel," She retaliated. Kane followed her 'request' and let go of her hand. She then went in between Miss Alisa and Kane.
" How many time does the teacher have to fall victim to your constant bullying?"
Natalie's question left Kane speechless.
" Answer me!" She shouted.
" I don't know what you're talking about." Kane tried to protest.
" You know very well what I'm talking about! Ever since Miss Alisa came to this school, you've been bullying and harassing her. Day by day, she kept up with your constant abuse. Anyone who tried to help her, you personally made sure they were dealt with. And even today, despite arriving late in class, she simply overlooked it. And all for you to attack just as she was reaching out to help you fix your collar and pretend like it was all an accident. Have you no shame, Daniel Kane?"
Upon hearing that, Kane couldn't muster the strength to speak. She looked at Natalie who's eyes were burning with rage and fury. Seeking justification that they must have gotten it all wrong, he looked over at Miss Alisa who was still on the ground, horror stricken. She was breathing uncontrollably fast while mumbling the words, please don't hurt me.
Kane looked at the rest of his classmates who looked at him with bitterness and disgust. Even William, his most trusted friend couldn't look at him in the eye.
" I hope you are happy, now that you got what you wanted." Said Natalie.
Kane looked back at her with a confused expression.
" What, you wanna act like you didn't want Miss Alisa to forcefully leave the school?" Natalie helped her get on her feet." She's gonna transfer by the end of the week. I hope you experience happiness in your actions." Natalie said the last part sarcastically.
Natalie ended up helping Miss Alisa to leave the class. As they left, Kane's eyes met Miss Alisa's. They maintained eye contact for only about half a second before she averted her eyes.
