Chapter 26 - THE SHADOW WAR ARC PRE ENTRY

The multiversal god on dial.

"We need to talk," Zeus said.

"That's not possible," Leo replied. "You know that I could go rogue, and Vultra would follow me. We could end up causing mayhem for the gods all over again. And don't forget—I created the Anti-Universal Energy. I could recreate it, and this time, it will be more refined and stronger, meaning it will be even more of a threat. So, are you still declining me?"

Zeus sighed. Then he said to them, "Wait a moment. Lemme put him on dial."

He removed a ring, then wore it again. A holographic display came up. A voice said to him, "Yello! It seems you have reached the Multiversal Gods' Hotline. Please wait a moment. You will be connected to the god you wish to speak to. Grm grm grm… ring ring ring…"

"Hello," Valse said as his holographic display came up. He was wearing a suit with a Rolex diamond watch.

"Emmm… Zeus," he said. "What do you want? And which Zeus are you?"

Zeus answered, "Kind sir, good day. I am Zeus from Universe 9XX."

"Oh, the Overlord of Hoes. Go ahead with what you want to say. Is the universe okay? Are there any problems?"

"Well," Zeus said, "I won't be the one to say that."

Leo came up.

"Oh, Leo," Valse said. "What's the problem?"

Leo answered, "Well, I should thank you for giving us a second chance. But… a bone from the past unveiled itself. To be precise, while we were in our old universe, we met a man called Denzan. Ask the gods for more details on him. And so, with that, I want to ask you to give us back our confined powers—the ones you took."

Valse turned serious. "Are you sure you want that? You'll have the power to contend with the gods. Are you sure the gods would want that?"

Leo answered, "Well, it's because our old friend Denzan seems to have grown stronger. He has the force to contend with five universal gods. Our current powers won't be enough. That's why we request our original powers back. Don't worry. When we're done, we'll seal the powers back in our bodies, where they originally belong. And we need it urgently. The war will begin in three days, and we need our powers to rally our forces from our dimensions—where we kept them—and also to train."

Valse sighed before he said, "We and the gods will have a brief meeting. Expect results in two hours from now. So Zeus, rally your troops, and I'll open a pathway for you all. Bring only the Origin Gods. I don't want any baby gods around the meeting. Now go. I'll end this transmission. Expect the gate in five minutes."

Then he cut the transmission.

Zeus now said to Leo and Vultra, "I want you to wait for four hours. We will send you a reply. You can stay here if you want."

He kissed the two women before he left.

Zeus said to them, "Take care of them for me, alright? And I'll surprise you later."

Both Leo and Vultra looked at each other. Then they sat on the couch. Vultra dozed off, while Leo decided to update the OS of both chips. He spent the remaining hours tinkering with the OS to accommodate the Origin Powers.

Now the scene shifts to the gods in the Multiverse Council.

We shift to the high table. Valse, being the boss, sat in the leader position. The remaining gods sat according to their positions in their gods' ranking.

Valse started, "I believe Zeus already told you the reason for this short notice meeting. So—any questions before we go to the main agenda of the day?"

There was no response.

"Well then," Valse said. "Why don't we go to the main reason this meeting was arranged in the first place? Who has objections?"

Pangu raised his hand.

Valse said, "Oh, you have an objection? Well, let's hear it."

"Em… em…" Pangu started. "I don't have any problems with Leo. But Vultra—how do we know that he won't turn on us after his powers are given? We need a guarantee."

Hades objected, "But when the Multiversal God was schooling our asses, he and Leo evolved to protect us—when they could very well have destroyed us. And when Vultra went out of control, it was Leo that cooled him down. We don't need a guarantee. Having Leo beside Vultra is already a guarantee. And his parents are in good hands, so he doesn't have any reason to turn on us. Use your non-existent brains to think, not your axe."

The gods held their laughter, and Valse smirked.

"Any other person with an objection?" Valse asked.

The whole council was silent.

Valse said, "Since this is a matter that decides the fate of the universe—and the multiverse alike—why don't we cast it in a vote? It will be either for or against the notion that the duo should be given their powers. You have two hours to cast your vote. The vote box will be materialized, and the tickets when you gods agree. Use that time wisely. I'll see you in two hours. I have urgent matters to attend to."

He left the gods to debate it out.

Now left alone, the gods began to talk.

Pangu said, "I still strongly disagree, but I will express my emotions through voting. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I believe their powers are way too dangerous to be kept in their hands."

Poseidon objected, "But it is their original powers! We can't continue to deny them what belongs to them. Has your axe that you use to slice also sliced your common sense away with the heavens you separated?"

The gods burst into laughter.

Ra decided to speak. "Well, why don't we make them gods? It would be insane if mortals with that kind of power aren't gods, right?"

Gaia said, "Well, I can't deny it anymore, but the remaining gods won't be happy with the idea. So I suggest it stays the normal way. Who knows? Their powers can be used to protect this multiverse from a rogue one. So I will vote for their powers to be returned."

Half the gods were for and against the notion. Only Zeus and Buddha were neutral, so the final say went to them.

Zeus said, "Well, I'm for the notion. What about you, Buddha?"

"Well," Buddha said, "I'll decide when the vote is cast."

At that moment, the box materialized and the papers levitated to each of the gods' seats—red for against, blue for for, and white for neutral.

Buddha said, "It's simple. Use your power to levitate the paper of your choice to the opening of the box of your choice. Alright? Now, let the voting begin."

For an hour, the gods voted. When it was down to the last ten minutes, only Buddha remained.

He said, "Well, gods… I don't care what you think. But the safety of the universe is my top priority. I feel Leo and Vultra might be a threat, but that doesn't mean they would be. So I will be voting for them—leaving everything in their hands. We gods cannot directly interfere in their matters. But since it's for the good of the universe, I leave it in the hands of the immortal-mortal duo."

Now, enough wasting time. He levitated the paper to the blue opening of the box, ultimately putting it in the mortals' favor.

At that moment, Valse returned.

"Zeus, Buddha… I think you both would make fine Multiversal Gods one day," he said while wiping a tear from his eye.

"Well then, since the vote is in the favor of the mortals, I will return their powers to them. Buddha, I hope your decision is right. The fate of the multiverse rests on your shoulders."

In that moment, two domains appeared, each holding the powers of the mortals.

He said, "Now, it will vanish—and it will return to them."

The scene shifts.

Leo had just finished with his update and sent it to Vultra. They both auto-updated their chips. It had just clocked 100% when suddenly, they were both transported to their respective domains.

Leo met himself—his previous self, with all his former powers.

Vultra, too, met his past self.

The scene now shifts to Valse.

"For the fusion of powers to work," he said to the gods, "they will have to defeat their previous selves. And you know—with their current powers, it won't be easy. They have to prove they are worthy."

The scene shifts to Vultra.

His past self told him, "Boy, you don't come close to my power. Why don't you give up?"

Vultra answered, "Boy, I am you. And I'll show you why I'm worthy. I'll make you kneel."

The scene shifts to Leo's domain. His past self told him, "You do know I know what you will do even before you think it."

Leo said, "Well then, and I know yours. Why don't we play a game of brains? I'll prove to you that I'm worthy of my powers."

The scene shifts to Vultra. They both prepared their stances. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Vultra said, "Well then. Let's start."

Immediately, his past self diced him. Vultra was so shocked, he couldn't comprehend what had happened.

"Is this how I die? In the hands of my previous self?"

Vultra noticed that his past self had entered the bloodlust state. He smirked as he said, "Motherfucker, I am unkillable."

Vultra instantly regenerated, zooming toward his past self. He lunged with a punch, but his past self slowly evaded it. Vultra, predicting this, materialized sphere knuckles and shifted his hands mid-attack, landing a clean cut on Prime Vultra. He gave some distance, then touched his cheek and saw blood on it.

He smirked again and instantly sliced up Vultra.

Again, Vultra regenerated.

"I could get used to this all day," Vultra said, "but I don't have time. I have a war in three days."

He materialized his scythe and dashed toward his past self.

(Since it's getting intense, I'll use "Prime Vultra" for the past self, same goes for Leo.)

Prime Vultra dodged. Vultra extended his boots in a missile dropkick form and turned it into a twisting human tornado. He then materialized blades on his elbows, slicing deep cuts into Prime Vultra. Clutching his stomach, Prime Vultra retreated, clearly growing angrier.

Then the system notified Vultra.

"Copy Mode: OFF. Switch it or die in his hands."

Vultra replied aloud, "Shut up. I won't use that dirty trick to beat myself."

He instantly vanished and reappeared in front of Prime Vultra. Using his scythe, he took a slash—swoosh—followed by a huge gust of wind. But he was shocked when Prime Vultra used his eyes alone to stop him, rendering him paralyzed.

"I'll take that," Prime Vultra said, grabbing the scythe. He then upgraded it with Anti-Universal Energy and gave it back.

"Fight me for real," he said to Vultra.

Vultra caught the upgraded scythe. Instantly, his powers began to fuse with the Anti-Universal Energy. His Yin symbol appeared behind him, then the Anti-Universal Energy emerged as well. Both fused violently until they formed a dark golden Yin symbol.

Vultra now glowed as he ascended. He became one with the new energy, turning his scythe golden—apart from the blade itself, which he chose to keep in its dark color.

Vultra said, "Now let's fight."

He used the System Edit ability to change his stats to "Ascended Universal God."

They both charged at each other, creating a spectacular display of raw power. Prime Vultra's dark aura clashed with Vultra's golden-dark Yin symbol. Prime Vultra's aura now formed a super blackhole, while Vultra's Yin symbol doubled in size.

Inside their auras, they clashed scythes in an impressive spectacle. Then the system notified Vultra again:

"Override Mode: Active. Prime Vultra is pushing you back. Last chance. Activate Override Mode—Yes or No?"

Vultra said, "What the heck? I don't have a choice. I'll show you."

"Yes."

Immediately, power surged into him, giving him a massive boost to overpower Prime Vultra in the aura battle. The Yin symbol suddenly became a domain door, opening and swallowing Prime Vultra's aura inside.

Within the aura, Vultra landed his scythe in Prime Vultra's chest.

Prime Vultra spoke his last words: "Welcome back, master."

Then he faded into Vultra.

Vultra now unleashed terrifying powers. His werewolf identity was returned—ears grew, eyes glowed, fangs burst from his jaw. In his chest, the Yin symbol was now permanently embedded. His eyes turned blank. His body became white, overflowing with energy.

He then descended from his levitation, fully built. The system had been completely devoured by Vultra's power.

He opened his eyes—and the dimension shattered.

Valse, observing, said, "One of them has fused successfully. Now we wait for the other."

The scene now shifts to Leo, who is currently in a staredown with Prime Leo.

They both prepared their stances.

Then they dashed toward each other—
