Chapter 20 – Weaknesses and Legends
Adrian:
— His name is Samson. He represents divine brute strength and the protection of the weak — says Adrian, recalling the memories of his father's divine spirit.
As he speaks, a faint aura of power surrounds him, as if the presence of the spirit still lingers nearby.
Cordelia:
— Well, now that you've inherited it, let's head back and recover our energy, because I want to start a new journey today — she says as she steps into the cabin and grabs a meal, eating quickly to regain her strength.
The warm aroma of roasted roots and dried meat fills the air as she eats with urgency and determination.
Adrian:
— What's the rush? — he asks, confused, watching her devour the food.
Cordelia:
— The sooner we get to that place, the sooner we might find clues about my parents... and find them — she says, her voice carrying a mix of hope and urgency as she finishes eating.
Adrian:
— Understood.
Cordelia:
— Alright, we've packed, rested... now it's time to go.
Try to keep up! Divine Possession! — she shouts, leaping forward with impressive speed, leaving a trail of glowing energy behind her.
Adrian:
— Wait for me! I'm not falling behind this time! — he yells, jumping after her.
Adrian:
— Got you! — he says with a smile as he lands beside her mid-run.
Cordelia:
— Well, looks like you've gotten a bit stronger.
Adrian:
— Cordelia, at this pace, how long until we reach the place marked on the map?
Cordelia:
— At our current speed, about three days — she replies, checking the worn-out map.
— So let's cover as much ground as we can before nightfall, then stop and set up camp.
As the sun begins to set, casting long shadows...
Suddenly, a massive insect-like creature bursts from underground, roaring in rage and charging at them with deadly claws.
Adrian:
— What is that?! — he yells, startled by the sudden ambush.
Cordelia (dodging quickly):
— This is what happens when normal animals reach this region. They're irradiated by the energy here and turn into mindless monsters.
Adrian:
— Got it. Then take this, giant bug!
Sonic Punch! BOOM!
The strike hits hard, making the creature explode in a cloud of dust and ichor.
Cordelia:
— Let's go. We're still far from the target location — she says, already running again.
Adrian:
— Right!
As twilight falls, the sky is painted in deep orange and blue hues...
Cordelia:
— Listen... it's getting dark. We should set up camp.
Cordelia:
— Adrian, help me with this.
Adrian:
— Done. Everything's set — he says, placing the last wooden support for the tent and looking out into the surrounding shadows.
Cordelia:
— Here — she says, handing him food wrapped in cloth.
Adrian:
— Thanks — he replies, accepting it gratefully.
Cordelia watches Adrian in silence, her expression softening. After a brief moment of reflection, she speaks.
Cordelia:
— Adrian, there's something you need to know now that you have the power of a Heir.
Adrian:
— What is it?
Cordelia:
— We don't just inherit powers from divine spirits... we also inherit their weaknesses.
For example, there's a divine spirit who's invulnerable, but in his legend, if he's struck on the heel, he can be wounded.
I knew that. That's why I asked for your spirit's name — she says, lowering her gaze.
Adrian:
— Thank you, Cordelia.
Cordelia:
— Wha...? — she looks at Adrian, confused, not understanding his sudden gratitude.
Adrian chuckles lightly and says:
— I had no way of knowing that, but you still told me — even though it exposed your own weakness.
That shows you trust me. So... thank you — he says with a sincere smile.
Cordelia:
— Idiot... — she gives him a light punch on the shoulder.
Adrian:
— What did you say?!
Cordelia:
— Nothing! Go to sleep — she says, turning her back and lying down with a pout.
Adrian closes his eyes, letting the sound of the wind and the stars soothe him.
Adrian:
— Don't worry. I promise I'll bring your parents back — and with those final words, he falls asleep.
Cordelia (whispering):
— Thank you...
To all of you, thank you so much for supporting me this far.
I know I still have a lot to improve, but I'm truly grateful to each of you.
If you can, please consider leaving a Power Stone to help my work reach even farther.
Thank you for your time and support — you are amazing!
