Chapter 19 – So This Is My Power
The morning breeze gently passed through the cracks of the makeshift cabin, and a bright light illuminated the interior.
Cordelia, who was lying down, slowly got up, glancing at the light emanating from Adrian's body.
Cordelia:
— What a bright light... — she whispered, amazed, as she watched the silvery, pulsating glow surrounding Adrian like a living aura.
She cautiously approached and knelt beside him.
— It's already morning... he should be waking up soon. Just a little longer, — she said with a tender smile, watching his serene face as he slept.
She carefully stepped back and began organizing the space to prepare breakfast. Suddenly, the metallic sound of armor clashing against the ground echoed in the distance.
She froze, her senses sharp, detecting the danger.
She looked through the window and widened her eyes.
In the distance, several monster-knights were approaching—grotesque figures with deformed helmets and glowing eyes, mounted on twisted beasts.
Cordelia (alert):
— Damn it... the noise from the battle last night must have drawn them here.
She narrowed her eyes, quickly analyzing the situation.
— Just when Adrian is awakening his heritage!
She looked back and saw Adrian still surrounded by the light, immersed in the process of awakening.
— If he's interrupted now, he might lose the chance to awaken... and this was our only power stone!
She took a deep breath and clenched her fists.
— How many monsters are there...? About thirty... damn.
— My energy isn't fully recovered yet...
Her eyes sparkled with determination.
— The only option is to hold them off until Adrian finishes waking up and comes to help me...
She stepped into the open field and shouted:
— Alright then! Divine Possession... AR!
Wings of light erupted from her back, radiant, as her aura exploded with celestial power.
— Take this, you stupid monsters! Divine Lamb Kick!
She shot forward like a lightning bolt, spinning in the air, and delivered a fiery kick to the ground—the explosion destroyed ten monsters as if they were ragdolls.
She fell back, breathing heavily.
— Damn... I could have wiped out half of them if my energy had returned...
She looked back once more, hopeful.
— Adrian, wake up already... I need your help here...
Inside the cabin, Adrian began to stir, the light around him flickering.
Adrian (sleepy):
— What kind of dream was that...? I think it was my father's divine spirit...
He slowly opened his eyes, feeling his body light but pulsing with a power he had never known.
He clenched his fist, small sparks of energy dancing between his fingers.
— So much energy... — he whispered.
— With this power, I'm getting closer to my heritage...
He closed his eyes for a moment, as if connecting with something greater.
— Thank you for the strength, Father.
BOOMMM!
A violent explosion shook the ground, making the cabin tremble.
Adrian (alarmed):
— What was that?!
He ran to the window, opened it, and saw Cordelia fighting, surrounded by dozens of monsters.
— They must have come because of the noise last night...
But then he realized: she was out of breath, her clothes torn, and her aura unstable.
— Why hasn't Cordelia finished them off...? — he thought, tense.
His eyes narrowed.
— Damn it... she hasn't recovered from the previous battle...
Without hesitation, he jumped out of the window, heading straight for the battlefield.
Cordelia (almost out of breath):
— My energy is almost gone...
She stumbled after delivering another blow.
— If Adrian doesn't show up soon, I'm in trouble...
BOOMMMMM!
A powerful sound echoed.
Adrian (shouting from afar):
— Sorry for the delay, Cordelia!
She turned around, surprised, her eyes widening as she saw him.
Cordelia:
— Adrian... you did it!
He landed beside her, the ground shaking beneath his feet.
Adrian:
— Yes. Now you can rest. I'll take care of them.
Cordelia (smiling):
— Then I'm counting on you.
She stepped back, placing all her trust in him.
Adrian (facing the monsters):
— Now it's just between us, monsters...
He clenched his fist, channeling his newly discovered energy.
— Take this! Sonic Punch!
He shot forward like a lightning bolt, and the impact of the punch made the monsters explode from within.
— Five left... ten...
He spun through the air.
— Take this! Sonic Kick! BOOM!
More monsters erupted.
And to finish...
He jumped high, energy swirling around his body.
— Sonic Earthquake!
He slammed his fist into the ground, and a seismic wave spread in all directions, opening a crater that swallowed the remaining monsters.
Silence.
The dust rose in the air. The battlefield was quiet.
Adrian (panting):
— It's over... — he said, standing tall.
Cordelia walked toward him, smiling softly.
Cordelia:
— Adrian... can I ask you something?
Adrian:
— Of course.
Cordelia:
— What is the name of the divine spirit that gave you this power?
Adrian looked at the sky, as if invoking a sacred memory.
Adrian:
— His name... is Samson.
