Zane's POV
I quickly bent and picked up a sharp tree branch...more of a blunt weapon than anything and tucked it carefully beneath the waistband of my shorts. Just in case Josh tried anything funny.
I don't trust Alphas.
Josh and I walked through the back of the institution, taking a path where no Alphas ever tread according. We were deep underground now, guided only by the dim glow of a small flashlight that barely lit the way ahead. Shadows clung to the walls like cobwebs, and each step echoed in the narrow passage.
"Why is there an underground tunnel here?" I asked, raising an eyebrow as I followed behind him. "And this really leads directly to Alpha Alfie's office?"
"What do you think?" he replied, his tone flat, devoid of any emotion. He didn't even look back.
