He took another step forward, and I instinctively backed away, my heart pounding, every nerve in my body on high alert.
"Do you understand the consequences?" Alfie asked again, his voice low and dangerous, each syllable rolling off his tongue like a warning.
His eyes locked with mine, intense and unrelenting, and he kept walking toward me. I continued backing up until my spine hit the cold, unyielding wall. Trapped. Alfie caged me in, slamming his palms against the wall on either side of my head. Then he leaned in so close that I could feel the heat of his breath against my cheek.
