Chapter 18 - Chapter Eighteen: Hell on Earth

Lin and his companions stood in front of the final tower, a towering entity that seemed to rise from the very heart of Hell itself. The deep red color that covered its walls was like dried blood, and the aura that emanated from it pulsed as if inviting them to challenge it.

The smell of iron mixed with the smell of death filled the air, as if the tower itself carried a silent threat.

Maru said as he examined the tower with his scientific instruments: "The walls here contain unfamiliar materials... This place is anything but normal. "It looks like it's made of scientifically modified bio parts."

Yumi, who was feeling the weight of the atmosphere, grabbed her sword and said, "We're not here to think too much. The important thing is to finish this quickly."

Lin looked at the tower deeply, as if his eyes were sinking into its darkness. His calm was different, heavy, as if he knew that what was going to happen here was not going to be just a passing fight.

When they entered the tower, the scene was beyond anything they could have imagined. Hundreds of bodies littered the floor, some horribly torn apart, while the walls were covered with traces of frozen blood.

The place reeked of death and despair, and the sound of faint whispers surrounded them, as if the corpses themselves were calling out to them.

Picking up a small device from his bag, Maru said: "These bodies... "They're not natural. "There are faint indications that some of them have been reconfigured by unknown technologies."

Rin, who was trying to ease the tension, said sarcastically: "Great! That means we don't need to escape, because we're already trapped!"

Suddenly, the bodies began to move. Broken bones echoed throughout the tower, and the eyes of the corpses began to glow a blood-red color.

The movement was frightening, each body rising up as if it were regaining a ruined life.

Yumi screamed: "They're getting up! Prepare to fight!"

The battle broke out. The dead were attacking with unbearable violence, their rotting bodies and twisted limbs becoming effective killing tools.

Lin used his **Air Sword** to deliver tornado strikes, while Yumi used her extraordinary speed with her **Ice Cutter** to freeze the attackers.

Maru, who was carefully observing the situation, used one of his new machines to fire magnetic waves. He said in a loud voice as he directed an electrical charge towards the corpses: "These magnetic fields are capable of disrupting the neurological movement of these creatures. "But I can't keep them stabilized for long!"

The fight went on for hours, with the tower pushing bodies in a seemingly endless stream. Every time they killed one, another would rise to take its place. The team was gradually losing, and blood was flooding the floor.

After a terrifying wave of corpses, only Lin, Yume, Maru, and Rin remained. They stood trapped amidst the falling bodies, their bodies tired, their eyes bearing the weight of the battle. Lin, who now faced the corpses without hesitation, stood atop a large pile of the dead, his sword completely stained with blood.

At that moment, he began to hear faint sounds coming from the corpses. Voices that echoed the pain and fear they had experienced when they were alive. "Save me... Please.", "Don't kill me!", "I want to stay alive!"

that they experienced when they were alive. "Save me... Please.", "Don't kill me!", "I want to stay alive!"

The voices haunted him like a nightmare, his eyes staring into space as the sword slowly fell from his hand. A strange feeling began to overtake him, as if something inside him was breaking.

Yumi stepped towards him anxiously, and said in a weak voice: "Lin... "We have to get out of here. The tower won't spare us."

Lin looked at her, but his gaze was completely different. They weren't the ones she knew. His eyes held a heaviness, as if he was seeing something he didn't understand before. He said in a halting voice: "These bodies... "They were life... "They were real voices."

Maru, who was trying to reboot one of his devices, said, "Lin, this is not your confusion!"

But Lin didn't move. He remained standing, hearing the moans of corpses filling his ears. His body was covered in blood, from his head to his clothes. He took a deep breath, then slowly picked up his sword and said, "I can't turn back now. I must finish this tower."

Lin advanced towards the glowing circle that was in the center of the tower. Red symbols were spreading across the floor like arteries, lighting up stronger with each step he took. He stood in the center of the circle, releasing his full power.

Lin didn't hesitate. He said in a firm voice: "Everything must come to an end."

Suddenly, the energy from the circle exploded, and the tower began to shake violently. The walls cracked, and rocks began to fall from above. The shadows that surrounded them gradually disappeared, and the screams that filled the place became weaker and weaker until they faded away completely.

They all emerged from the tower, which was turning into rubble. The ground shook one last time before everything returned to an eerie silence. Lin stood amidst the rubble, his eyes holding an inexplicable gaze. He had changed.
