CHAPTER 29
It took a bit longer for Butler Jones and Alice to get back down to the lobby. The elevator was packed, and people kept stopping by the floors. When they returned to the ground, Diandra was no longer where they had left her. A few lingering patients still in the lobby looked toward them curiously.
They began asking around.
"Oh, her?" A nurse said, almost immediately, gesturing vaguely toward the front entrance. "Hard to miss her. She left just a few minutes ago with a little girl."
"A girl?" Alice frowned. "What girl?"
The female nurse shrugged. "Didn't look related, but they were walking together. Headed outside."
As they asked more people, they received similar answers. Diandra had clearly caught the attention of half the lobby—her striking beauty and regal presence made her impossible to overlook. And for once, they, Butler Jones and Alice, felt grateful for the people's attention to Diandra.
