The ride to the mansion was mostly filled with Riley's relentless attempts to interrogate Charles. Riley bombarded Charles with questions about the house and the Saintclaires, but Charles gave clipped, professional one-word answers, clearly indicating he wasn't paid to socialize.
Alex, on the other hand, sat quietly in the backseat, staring out the tinted glass of the fancy car. Trees passed by in streaks of green, the occasional glimpse of manicured lawns.
