Chapter 111: Little Brother? Big Sister?
After giving her orders, Bo Saixi did not linger.
With a single movement, she vanished on the spot.
Even with Neptune's strength, he could only catch a faint afterimage he couldn't track her movement at all.
It was clear that Bo Saixi's power far exceeded that of a normal Ultimate Douluo.
As the Sea God's chosen High Priestess, she possessed divine power within her.
Her very Martial Soul was the Sea God's, granting her a unique authority over the ocean itself.
If she were in the open sea, she could command the ocean's forces, making her a match for even some lower ranked divine officials.
She might even surpass weaker gods in the right conditions.
While Neptune was lost in thought, a playful voice suddenly rang out.
"Alright then, little brother Ni, follow your big sister."
A surge of blue light bloomed from Sea Witch's hands.
With a casual wave
The waters of the Sea Within the Sea rose, gathering in midair.
Within moments, they solidified into a bridge but not in the direction Neptune had arrived from.
Instead, the bridge extended deeper into the island's forests.
"Little brother Ni?"
Neptune was momentarily stunned, staring at her with an odd expression.
He had a strong suspicion she was doing this on purpose.
"What? Given my age, calling you 'little brother' isn't unreasonable, is it?"
Sea Witch placed her hands on her hips, completely unfazed by his future status as Sea God.
Instead, she boldly took on the role of 'big sister', acting as if his title meant nothing.
Neptune's current persona was that of a 30 year old man.
However, his true age at least according to his fabricated background was over a hundred.
By contrast, Sea Witch, despite being a mermaid, was considered young among her kind.
So her calling him "little brother" wasn't technically wrong.
But what annoyed Neptune wasn't the "little brother" part
It was the nickname "Ni."
"I don't go by 'Ni.' My full name is Neptune!"
He said seriously, his tone firm.
This was something that needed to be made clear.
The world of Douluo Continent was a bizarre cultural mix.
It blended Eastern and Western elements in ways that didn't always make sense.
For example
The Tian Dou Empire had a distinct Eastern aesthetic.
Yet its provinces had names like "Faust Province" or "Notting City" which sounded completely Western.
Then there was the Spirit Hall a name with an Eastern tone
Yet its ranks and titles were purely Western church hierarchy: Pope, Bishop, Cardinal…
And names?
Some were Chinese style, like Tang San, Xue Beng, Ma Hongjun.
Others were Western, like Oscar, Flender.
Oscar? Flender?
Those clearly weren't Chinese surnames.
And what about Bibi Dong?
Was her surname "Bi"? Or "Bibi"?
Who knew?
The point was
Overthinking names in this world was pointless.
Trying to rationalize them would only give him a headache.
Sea Witch blinked in surprise at Neptune's serious expression.
She had just been joking.
If he had ignored it, she probably would've dropped it.
But seeing him so fixated on the issue
Her mischievous side kicked in.
The more he resisted, the more she wanted to do it.
"Oh? But I like calling you Little Brother Ni~"
She smiled brightly, her expression playful yet alluring.
With her mature charm and teasing tone, she was truly deadly to men.
Neptune rolled his eyes.
"Fine. Do whatever you want."
But then he narrowed his gaze, pretending to be stern.
"Just don't regret it when I become Sea God and make things difficult for you."
"Ooh, so scary~"
Sea Witch giggled, completely unbothered.
To her, his "threat" held zero weight.
This was because Neptune's persona was too benevolent.
As the future Sea God, his character was defined by great compassion and a vast heart.
That meant she could tease him all she wanted without worrying about punishment.
Of course, once he actually ascended, she would restrain herself.
But for now
This adorable "little brother" was fair game for as much teasing as possible.
After all, she was still a young mermaid.
And young girls loved to mess with people they liked.
If this had been one of the other six Sacred Pillar guardians, they would've been terrified to behave so casually around him.
Following Sea Witch, Neptune crossed the water bridge, heading deeper into Sea God Island's inner regions.
After about fifteen minutes, they exited the forest
And a city came into view.
It was a small city, with walls only five meters high.
From their higher vantage point, Neptune could clearly see its entire layout.
Compared to the imperial cities of Tian Dou Empire, this city was tiny.
But the most eye catching feature was at its center
A massive building, similar in design to the Sea Witch's Sacred Pillar, but much larger.
At its peak, there was a grand statue of Sea Witch herself.
For once, she seemed serious.
"This is Siren City one of the seven sacred cities of Sea God Island."
"The building in the center is the City Lord's Hall."
"Siren City has about a thousand residents all of them Sea God's most devoted followers."
Neptune nodded slightly, taking in the information.
Siren City was indeed small.
Even its "city gates" were barely more than doorways.
At the entrance, only four guards stood watch two with white spirit rings, two with yellow.
Upon seeing Sea Witch and more importantly, Neptune
They immediately bowed deeply, filled with awe and excitement.
With utmost respect, they ushered them inside.
Although small, Siren City was well structured.
The streets were clean, lined with modest wooden and stone buildings.
There weren't many shops, but trade clearly existed.
Seeing this, Neptune found it hard to believe that he was on an island.
For a moment, it almost felt like being back in the mainland.
Sea Witch explained,
"Little Brother Ni, you'll be staying in the City Lord's Hall for now."
"I can't be away from my Sacred Pillar for too long, so I usually cultivate beneath it."
"Our people here are self sufficient. We grow simple crops and live off the sea."
"Since we don't use currency, most transactions here are barter based."
"Of course, we do have trading fleets that periodically sail to nearby coastal cities to purchase essential goods."
Neptune raised an eyebrow.
"I thought Sea God Island's soul masters weren't allowed to leave?"
Sea Witch smiled.
"The trading fleets aren't manned by our soul masters. They're composed of external sea soul masters or those who failed the trials and chose to stay as civilians."
"They come to exchange goods, not to leave."
"Ah, I see."
Neptune nodded, his curiosity satisfied.
Although he had read the Douluo novels in his past life, he had only remembered the major events.
Smaller details like this had long faded from memory.
