Chapter 110: Restless Undercurrents
'Why did I receive the Nine Trials of the Sea God?'
'This isn't what the system predicted!'
Neptune frowned slightly. This situation was not what he had expected.
Based on his calculations, knowing that the ocean faced an impending crisis, the Sea God should have simply granted him a single trial and immediately passed down the divine position.
Why was he now being stalled with the full nine trials?
In reality, the reason he received the Nine Trials instead of a Single Trial as seen in the video was not due to an error in the system's predictions.
Rather, it was because the circumstances were different.
In the video, half the ocean had already been devastated by the erupting undersea volcanoes. The entire marine ecosystem was in ruins, and countless sea creatures had perished.
In such a desperate situation, the Sea God had no choice but to break protocol, granting Neptune a single trial and accelerating the inheritance process even going so far as to expend divine power to forcibly strengthen him.
However, in the present timeline, the meteor had yet to arrive.
Since the crisis was still an uncertainty, the Sea God saw no reason to break the Divine Realm's rules.
Passing down a divine position required strict adherence to protocol.
If the Sea God rushed the inheritance, he could simply leave without consequence.
But Neptune, as the new inheritor, would suffer the consequences.
He would likely be suppressed by the God Kings for violating divine law, or worse ostracized by his fellow gods for receiving an unorthodox inheritance.
Thus, unless absolutely necessary, the Sea God would not break the rules.
Of course, if the meteor suddenly arrived during the trials, the Sea God wouldn't hesitate to grant Neptune immediate succession just as in the video.
But for now, without imminent danger, the Nine Trials would proceed as normal.
'Fine…'
'Although this differs from my prediction, at least I still got the Nine Trials.'
'Unlike Tang San in the original story, my strength is already far superior there's nothing that needs "tempering."'
'So my trials should be different… and hopefully won't take too long.'
Accepting reality, Neptune pushed aside his frustration and focused on the trials ahead.
Just then
He felt something.
His gaze shifted sharply toward the horizon.
In the distance, a crimson light slowly expanded.
"You arrived earlier than I expected."
A gentle, ethereal voice resonated through the air soft, soothing, yet filled with divine authority.
The very space around them seemed to distort slightly.
Neptune's eyes narrowed.
This was not a teleportation ability.
It was merely an illusion created by extreme speed.
The next moment
A woman appeared on the Sacred Pillar Platform.
She was cloaked in a flowing crimson robe.
Her sea blue hair cascaded down her back, nearly touching the ground.
Her delicate face appeared no older than thirty, yet she radiated an overwhelming beauty.
But her beauty was not merely physical.
It came from her presence her noble elegance, her serene warmth.
She was a figure one could admire from afar but never dare to approach lightly.
In her right hand, she held a golden scepter, nearly three meters long.
The entire staff was engraved with divine patterns, and its tip formed a sharp diamond like spearhead.
Just five inches below the spearhead, a golden gemstone was embedded radiating the same brilliant hue as the golden light that had descended from the heavens moments ago.
If one only looked at her face, she was undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking women in existence.
Her aura was flawless, her body was perfection itself voluptuous yet regal, with a grace that defied reality.
But what drew Neptune's true attention were her eyes.
Those crystal clear blue eyes seemed even deeper than the ocean itself as if they held countless untold stories.
As if she had been waiting for someone to read them.
She was
Bo Saixi.
Neptune's eyes subtly brightened at the sight of her.
After all, who wouldn't appreciate beauty?
But unlike a typical fool, he didn't let his admiration cloud his composure.
Despite Bo Saixi's stunning appearance, he remained composed.
He had no vulgar thoughts of using his future status to claim her.
Beauty was temporary.
It was the soul that truly mattered.
"Greetings, Grand Worshipper," Sea Witch bowed slightly, paying her respects.
Bo Saixi nodded, her lips curving into a gentle smile.
For a moment, even the Sea Within the Sea seemed to ripple in response to that smile so dazzling it was almost unreal.
No wonder decades ago, she had bewitched even Qian Daoliu and Tang Chen, two of the strongest men in their era.
Neptune silently steadied his heartbeat.
His inner lsp instincts threatened to betray him, but he forced himself to remain calm.
With an expression of absolute seriousness, he spoke:
"The sooner I become a god, the more lives I can save when disaster strikes."
"If I wait until the meteor arrives, who knows how many innocent beings will perish?"
"By then, it will be too late."
His words struck deep.
Both Bo Saixi and Sea Witch immediately recalled the video's horrific scene
The ocean filled with floating corpses…
The sea boiling like a massive cauldron…
The putrid, milky white waters…
If the Sea God had acted sooner, many lives could have been saved.
If the meteor's impact had been contained early, the ocean's destruction could have been minimized.
Instead, in the video, Neptune had been forced to freeze half the ocean into a glacial continent a last ditch effort to halt the catastrophe.
Although visually stunning, the consequences had been severe the ocean's surface area had been permanently reduced.
But if he sealed the volcanic fissures immediately, before they could spread
The damage to the ocean would be significantly lessened.
Bo Saixi fell silent, then slowly nodded.
"You are right."
Her gaze softened as she turned to Sea Witch.
"Lorelei, until he completes the Sea God's trials, he will reside in your Siren City."
"Summon the other six. There will be a meeting at the Sea God Palace tomorrow."
Sea Witch bowed deeply.
"Yes, Grand Worshipper."
In Sea God Island, Bo Saixi's authority was absolute.
Unless the Sea God himself descended, no one could override her decisions.
At least
Until now.
Because standing before them was the future Sea God himself.
And once he completed the trials, his status would surpass even hers.
For now, however
His journey had only just begun.
