Chapter 45 - Dinner Conversations

Almost an hour later, Jasper and Cesar finally arrived. Cesar walked ahead, already immersed in his work, while Jasper kept pace beside him, whispering to him and tapping away on his tablet like a machine. I didn't know how he did it—working, talking, and typing all at once.

Being a PA is hard work, I told myself silently, grateful Cesar had never hired me.

I had taken a seat in the waiting area, with no offer of water, coffee, or even a smile. Jennifer didn't bother. Apparently, I wasn't a client, a guest, or even a person worth acknowledging. Her expression had told me clearly.

They walked by us—no greeting, no glance. Just a cold shoulder and a silent pass.

I finally stood up and walked over to Jennifer.

"Does he not greet you in the morning?" I asked, motioning toward them. "Do they just pretend you're not here?"

She narrowed her eyes at me. "Probably because you're here. He always says good morning. But today? Nothing. And guess why—because of you."
