 “Do you hate me so much… Wife?" He questions as he rests a hand on the wall beside my head and wraps an arm around my waist, pulling me off the wall and into his embrace. His face dips into the curve of my neck, causing me to shiver. 

"Because quite on the contrary, I've missed you..." He adds, and I shut my eyes.

“How sad. I didn’t miss you." I lie, trying to break free from his grip, but his hold on me tightens.
 
 “You didn’t?" He purrs into my ear, brushing his lips against my earlobe before catching it between his teeth. I gasp as I involuntarily grip his shoulders.
 
 He chuckles, “Let’s see how much you didn’t miss me." He breathes, and I gulp.
 
 His fingers ignite sparks as they travel up my thighs, and I shut my eyes as I bite my lip to stifle a moan.
 
 I should stop him. I should shove him away and stand my ground. Send him away for what he’s done… But I can’t.
 
 “You’re soaking wet, Mirelah…" He says in a sultry whisper that sets my desires racing. "Let me fix that."

Meadow exclaims in a whisper as she rushes after me, and I turn back to her with my index finger pressed against my lips.


"Shh… We shouldn't draw attention." I whisper, and she pinches her lips shut, causing me to smile as we keep rushing through the shadows.


For some reason, I feel alive tonight. 


"That's because tonight is a night for The Argent Call."


"The Argent Call is a night ritual; people do the moon dance in honour of the silver one."


"The Moon Dance is a sacred and secret ritual, performed only under certain full moons. It is not a dance of celebration but one meant to honour one of the eldest dragons. The Silver One.


The Silver dragon symbolises grace, mercy, hidden strength, and renewal. Things humans often seek in times of deep despair and desperate hope."


My steps slows as Meadow and I round a bend, and my mind churns.
