Chapter 18 - The Crash

I woke up to a blurry mess and a splitting headache. Love that. Just my favorite way to start the morning.

"Minh?... Minh?!... Minh!"

My eyes snapped open on Phuong looming over me with tears in her eyes and scratches all over her face.

"What year is it?"

"Minh!" she cried, pulling me into a hug.

I pushed her away, looking at the fallen trees and groups of people around us.

I stared at Phuong's scraggly crying face and reached out my hand to move her hair out of the way, "Stop crying so much, you can't afford to get uglier," I sneered.

"Fuck you."

I felt something pour down the side of my face. I wiped it off and stared at my bloody hand. Well shit. I'm in danger.

"Oh shit, shit," she panicked, fumbling around for something.

She in fact did not find anything and used her hand to stop the bleeding instead.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Trying to stop the bleeding!" she answered, blood seeping through her fingers.

"And what logic are you following to think that this will work?"

"I'm trying, okay!"

"Well, try harder!" I shot back, moving away from her hand as red liquid flowed out of my head.

Surprisingly, it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I'm guessing that the adrenaline is still kicking from the ship crash.

"Hey," interrupted a voice close by.

A silver-haired girl in the same uniform as that guy walked up to us with a wooden box, "If you're done bickering, I have to do my job now."

She knelt down to me, holding her hand to the side of my face. I inched away from her; Lady, if you're going to touch me, at least take me out to dinner first. I watched her roll her eyes, and a faint glow lit in the palm of her hand as my wound sealed up.

She turned to Phuong while taking out bandages from her wooden box, "Here, I don't detect any more serious injuries, but use these just in case," she explained, getting up and leaving.

As I watched her go up to another injured person

..... Did I just see a middle schooler perform witchcraft?

No, witchcraft is more in line with Graphien. Then that must be Celestial Arts. Interesting, I'll need to look into it some more later.

"Hey, Minh," Phuong said, interrupting my thoughts as usual.

"Yes?"

"Do you still hurt anywhere?"

I padded myself down before answering, "Yeah, I'm fine."

"You sure, cause you hit your head really hard when the ship crashed and I-"

I flicked her forehead, "I'm fine."

"Ow, fuck you!" She yelped, rubbing her forehead, "This is what I get for being nice to you," she grumbled.

"Since when are you ever nice to me?" I retorted, getting up and stretching out my back.

It was then that I heard a loud crack. Phuong stared at me as a moment of silence washed over us.

"Pfft, the fuck was that?" she laughed.

"The sound of my body failing me maybe."

"Or that you're getting old."

"We're the same age."

"And?" She stood up, stuffing a roll of bandages in her pocket.

Fair point

I scanned the area again; it looked like we were in a forest. A multitude of people, most likely passengers, huddled into groups around a crashed airship. I was surprised that the thing didn't catch on fire although, I assumed, this thing wasn't powered by any type of oil or fuel. I felt myself getting dragged away, Phuong gripping my wrist as she led me to who knows where.

We came across that glasses guy again, "Hey Robin!" Phuong called, waving at him.

Was that his name? Meh, couldn't be bothered to remember. He turned around, smiling at us as he waved back. Who are you smiling at? Stop that. Oh god, he's coming over to us. I push Phuong towards him, I can't be bothered to talk to people right now.

"Hey, Aliya and Angelo, am I right?"

"Yup," Phuong nodded, nudging me.

The fuck do you want?

She rolled her eyes and turned back to Robin, "So uh, we're just wondering about what we're gonna do from here. Cause, well, the ship crashed, and a lot of people got hurt and stuff."

"Right. Concerns. Rest assured little missy, everything will be okay," he explained, placing a hand on Phuong's shoulder, "The crew has everything under control. Emily will take care of the passengers. You've probably seen her helping out everyone with injuries. The rest of us will be repairing the ship. So, please put your worries aside," he added.

I gripped his wrist and took his hand off Phuong's shoulder, using my RBF to my advantage. Get your filthy hands off my sister if you please. I don't know where you've been and I don't want to know. He takes a step back from her. Good. Phuong elbowed my waist before continuing the conversation.

"Okay, that's good. Is there anyone else for us to help with anything?" She asked, taking a step closer to Robin.

Phuong, you bitch.

"Help, huh?" he smiled, "Well, Emily could do with some help around the passengers. She's still pretty young, ya know, and we could use some extra hands with ship repairs," he explained.

"Cool," Phuong shoved me towards him, "Minh can help you with the ship. I'll go help Emily."

I turned to her, my eye twitching. Bitch, when did I agree to this?!

She gave me a thumbs-up and a stupid smile, "You'll be fine, probably" she said, walking away.

"Phuong, get back here!" I shouted, attempting to go after her.

I say attempted because I was annoyingly stopped by a guy I barely knew. I yanked my hand back, letting out an exasperated sigh. I turned to Robin, who just stood there in front of me for a little bit before he smiled and led me to what I assumed was an engine room.

Phuong, when I get back I'm throwing you off a cliff.
