The cool night air in the courtyard did nothing to calm the fire that raged within me. Betrayal. The very word burned like acid in my veins. And to think it had come from within my own pack, one of my own wolves made it all the more unforgivable.
The maid, Evangeline, had spoken, revealing the depths of the treachery that Blackfang had seeded within my ranks. But that was only the beginning. Her words had ignited something in me, a primal need to protect my territory, my pack, and most importantly, Alana. Blackfang wanted to exploit my weakness, and they thought they could break me by attacking where I was most vulnerable. But they were wrong.
I had built this empire with blood and sacrifice. I had clawed my way to power. And no one….no one would destroy it.
