Adrian's POV
The weight of leadership was heavy, It always has been. But now, it feels different. There was an undercurrent in the pack, a murmur that I couldn't quite place. The wolves, usually loyal, seemed to be growing restless under my rule. I had thought, perhaps naively, that once Alana was in her place beside me, once she was Luna everything would settle. That the pack would finally understand who I was, what I had come to claim.
But things were never that simple, were they?
I had always kept my enemies close, and my allies closer. But lately, there has been a strange chill in the air. My instincts, always sharp, were telling me something was off. I couldn't pinpoint it. I couldn't explain it. But I had a feeling.
It all started with a maid.
