Chapter 121 - Receiving the Sanzo Beast’s Soul!

"Uh-oh!"

Though their bodies were trapped in time-space matter, the DigiDestined and their partner Digimon were still conscious. Watching the raging torrent of energy from Final Millenniummon, their hearts tightened in fear.

After all the hardship they endured defeating the Dark Masters, now some Millenniummon shows up and seals them all in an instant?!

The power gap was absurd!

They hadn't even had a chance to fight back!

But—

After ten years of battle experience, the kids had keen eyes. They realized that even if they had been free to move, even with all their partners at Ultimate level, they probably still couldn't have blocked that devastating energy blast.

And that little Angewomon — Moss — surely couldn't withstand it either!

Maintaining her Holy Dragon Beast form, Gatomon had just learned not long ago that Moss and Kari's disappearance was due to Millenniummon.

Now, seeing Millenniummon's real form appear and instantly seal them, Gatomon could feel the sheer, overwhelming difference in power.

Especially now that it had evolved into the terrifying Final Millenniummon!

She couldn't imagine how anyone could beat a godlike creature that could bend time and space.

Was this... the end?

Gatomon locked eyes on Moss through the shimmering prison of time-space matter, screaming in her heart:

"Don't die!"

"Angewomon..." Kari Kamiya whispered — she alone among them knew that Moss also wielded time-space powers.

But even so, she was flustered and terrified.

Moss did have the power of space-time from absorbing the soul of Mastemon once — but compared to Millenniummon's terrifying presence, she still seemed fragile.

Could she win?

...

Facing the raging torrent of energy, Moss calmly raised her hands.

Her left hand gathered dark energy, her right hand gathered holy energy.

"Chaos Energy Cannon!"

Her hands formed a diamond shape, merging light and dark into one — and with a roar, unleashed a towering blast of energy.

BOOM—!!!

Instantly, the DigiDestined and their Digimon, who had fallen into despair, were filled with hope again.

They had misjudged her strength — but it didn't matter. In fact, they wished they'd keep underestimating her, if this was the result!

"How... How is she this strong?!"

Final Millenniummon's two dragon heads widened their eyes in disbelief.

That tiny Angewomon, who should have been powerless before a time-space evil god like him, had unleashed a massive wave of light that shattered his devastating energy stream!

"Great! Push it back!"

"Keep going! Beat Millenniummon!"

Though frozen, everyone cheered for Moss in their hearts.

"Hyaaaah—!!"

Final Millenniummon roared furiously, pouring even more energy into the torrent — doubling its size in an instant, starting to push Moss's blast back.

Everyone's hearts sank.

He still had power to spare!?

Were they going to lose after all?

Seeing himself gaining the upper hand, Final Millenniummon relaxed a bit, secretly pleased:

"Ha ha ha! In the end, I, Millenniummon, am still superior!"

But the next second, his smugness shattered.

Moss's light surged again — doubling in strength!

What?!

Impossible!

Final Millenniummon couldn't believe it:

"I've already used almost half my power — where is this Angewomon getting such massive energy reserves?"

No — she wasn't just any Angewomon.

She was a survivor of dimensional exile. She wasn't ordinary.

Hmph. Looks like it's time to get serious.

At full power, Final Millenniummon could destroy worlds!

"YAAARRRGGGH!!!"

With an ear-piercing roar, he unleashed his full strength. The energy torrent expanded again — vast enough to erase heaven and earth.

But—

Even that apocalyptic force only pushed back Moss's light for a moment before she overpowered it once again.

"!?"

Final Millenniummon froze.

How could a simple Angewomon overpower the god of time and space in a direct energy clash!?

Was this a dream?

He desperately tried to deny reality, but no matter how unwilling he was, the truth was right in front of him: Moss's blinding energy was rushing closer and closer.

In panic, he made a snap decision.

Raising both claws, he unleashed another move:

"Time-Space Annihilation!"

Unlike before, this wasn't just an energy blast — it was his true ultimate technique, meant to banish an enemy to a distant dimension, utterly obliterating them!

This time, he didn't aim directly at Moss, but at her shining energy.

In an instant, the beam was redirected to some unknown alternate dimension.

It was similar to how Moss had previously used dimensional gates to defend against Daemon.

The difference: Moss could control her teleportation, while Final Millenniummon's version was random — and infused with destructive force.

"Such a cheat move..." Moss muttered sarcastically.

Wait — hadn't she done the same thing to Lucemon and Daemon before?

Turns out she was the real cheater!

Well — no problem then!

After using Time-Space Annihilation to cancel Moss's Chaos Energy Cannon, Final Millenniummon did not immediately attack again.

Instead, he hovered at a distance, hesitating.

He realized Moss had too many secrets. Continuing this fight might backfire.

"Hmph," he thought. "This Angewomon may not be my true rival Ryo Akiyama, but she can provide some entertainment. I'll leave her alive for now."

He believed he could travel the infinite timelines to find new ways to grow stronger.

Smirking coldly, Final Millenniummon said aloud:

"Heh — Angewomon, our game is only beginning! Until next time—"

He shrank his form and tried to slip away into another time-space rift.

But then—

A cold voice rang out:

"Evil god — halt!"

Who?!

Who else could it be?

It was Moss!

Final Millenniummon turned to see Moss, glowing with pure golden light, flying toward him.

Terror gripped him:

"Stop chasing me, you psycho! Can't we part gracefully for once!?"

Frantic, he ripped open time-space and tried to escape.

But Moss raised her hand and shouted:

"A little parting gift — please accept it!"

Whoosh!

A beam of golden light shot forth.

Right before he disappeared, the light struck Final Millenniummon — condensing into a golden circlet around him.

"What's this—?! Arrgh! My power—!!"

Final Millenniummon had expended much energy, but it wasn't real injury — just fatigue, recoverable with rest.

However, once the golden band latched onto him, all his regenerative abilities stopped working.

Worse — it locked down all his remaining strength, like freezing his own money in a bank account!

"CURSE YOU!!"

He crashed into some unknown dimension, struggling madly to remove the band.

No matter how he grew or shrank, the band refused to budge — it had fused into him!

While he flailed helplessly, a voice spoke nearby:

"Well, well... Isn't this the so-called world-ending Final Millenniummon? Looks pretty weak to me."

A moment later, the voice chuckled:

"Ah, I see — that's a Restriction Band. Hahaha! Looks like you'll have to behave yourself if you want your powers back!"

"!?"

Behave?

Final Millenniummon's mind went blank.

He — a god of evil — behave!?

That was worse than death!

"CURSE YOU, ANGEWOMON—!!"

As soon as he cursed, the band tightened, squeezing him painfully.

The voice said lazily:

"Watch your language. That band not only seals your power — it also forces you to be polite."

"WHAT?!"

No cursing either!?

At this rate...

He really would turn into a "good guy"!

No—!

Completely shattered, Final Millenniummon finally turned toward the voice.

There stood an old man: white-haired, hunched over, leaning on a cane, wearing a sun hat and red sunglasses — looking rather stylish.

"Who are you?" Final Millenniummon growled inside.

The old man chuckled:

"Just an old man who sells watches."

His right eye gleamed crimson.

"You can call me... Baguramon."

Meanwhile—

Back at the battlefield, the DigiDestined and their Digimon saw Final Millenniummon vanish, and turned their attention back to Moss.

She looked very different now.

On her head was a golden crown like a sacred monk's cap.

She wore simple, wide-sleeved white robes and loose white pants, with a pale yellow monk's cloak over it.

A red scroll wrapped around her neck like a scarf, covering the lower half of her face, leaving only her sharp blue eyes visible.

On her wrists were bronze bangles.

Her tattered pants revealed slender white calves, and a red prayer bead anklet adorned her left ankle.

She was barefoot, her ten toes delicate like little bamboo shoots.

"Sanzo?!"

Someone exclaimed.

The style was unmistakable — based on Tang Sanzang, the monk from Journey to the West.

That's right — Moss had awakened the Sanzo Beast's Soul!

When Final Millenniummon used Time-Space Annihilation to send her Chaos Energy Cannon away, Moss had simultaneously gathered Digisoul to awaken the Sanzo Beast's power and receive it.

Now, mastering the trick of retracting her wings, Moss almost looked like a living Sanzo Beast herself.

The biggest difference:

Sanzo Beast had bright golden eyes.

Moss's eyes remained sharp and blue — a distinction because she awakened this power through receiving magic, not natural evolution.

But even if appearances differed slightly, she had inherited the key abilities.

Among them — the Restriction Band was vital.

While Evil Rings and Spiral Rings from Digimon Adventure 02 brainwashed Digimon, the Restriction Band worked differently.

It didn't brainwash.

It sealed strength and forced politeness if the target misbehaved — a far more refined tool.

How could such a miraculous device be made?

"It requires the special energy from the Sanzo Beast — energy that resembles holy power but is even purer."

Moss reflected, thinking it must be what the data called "Tang Monk Flesh" — or more precisely, a Purified Awakening Energy born from endless acts of mercy.

Thus, only through sincere selflessness, like rescuing others (as Moss did when she saved Cosmic Brainmon and others), could she generate Awakening Energy.

Suddenly, a new evolution appeared on her panel:

[Shakamon: 1%]

Seeing it, Moss's heart jumped.

"Moss, why do you look so excited all of a sudden?" Angewomon Lucy — her loyal ally — asked curiously.
