Sienna's POV
I shouldn't have been alive.
Zeke's blade had stopped just inches from my heart, his hand shaking as he fought against the Shadow Queen's control. Then something strange happened. A single drop of my blood—from where his grip had cut my neck—fell onto his wrist. His eyes cleared for just a second. Just long enough for him to whisper, "Run."
So I did.
Three days later, I was still running. Or more like limping. My leg hurt from jumping out a second-story window during my escape. But I couldn't stop. Not when the Shadow Queen had my brother. Not when everything I thought I knew was falling apart.
"This has to be it," I muttered to myself, staring at the stone door hidden behind thick vines. According to the map Isolde had given me before everything went wrong, this place held answers. It was deep in the woods where the Third Trial had taken place months ago.
