A calm gentle wind hit Orbeth's cheeks softly who's daydreaming in the middle of a grassy hills, it was like a wake up call for him, his body jolted after Orbeth felt a tap on his shoulder.
"What the hell are you thinking about" Said a guy behind him, his face looks older than the 14 years old Orbeth. "Spacing out while hunting is a fatal mistake you know"
"Ah, uhh sorry, Brother.. Its just, i think my mind just went somewhere.." Orbeth replied while he scratched the back of his head due to embarrassment.
Turns out, the guy that is behind him was his Older brother, Zafir Deadcrow. He and Orbeth were wearing roughly the same dark hunting outfit with leather armor strapped on their shoulders and chest.
"Hoooo, how unusual, are you perhaps thinking about some girls?" Zafir said as he walked infront of Orbeth and smirked.
"Wha- what? Stop joking, let's go" Orbeth responded, he didn't want to continue this embarrassing conversation any further so he left his brother alone.
"Haha, okay then." Zafir said, he soon followed along with Orbeth, closely matching his steps with his younger brother.
They were both walking towards their dad, who was grabbing arrows from a couple of dead rabbits that had just been shot earlier.
"Father!" Shout Orbeth from the distance.
His father then turned around to see both of his son, and he gave a smile to them.
"Found anything?" Father said, his smile hadn't faded yet.
At first Orbeth was trying to reply, but he was cut off by Zafir who began saying, "I killed two, but Orbeth here were spacing out and thinking about something else instead, so he didn't catch anything." With a playful tone.
"H- hey!" Orbeth tries to refute but realized that he can't come up with a believable bluff.
However, when he thought that his father would scold him, he instead lauhed at his face.
"Ahahahaha! Is that so, did he have something in his mind? Is it a girl?" Orbeth's dad jokingly said.
His father's joke was only adding more embarrassment for Orbeth, and his face turned slightly red for a moment, as if retaliating to the allegations thrown at him, Orbeth then shouted at both his father and brother.
"U- urghh!! It's not like that! Stop playing with me!!" He said furiously.
Seeing that their jokes had started to struck Orbeth's nerves, the father and son then decided to stop talking about it before things took a wrong turn, they calmed Orbeth down with hand gestures before his brother then said..
"Calm down calm down, we're just joking, come on.. Pack your things up, we're going home."
Orbeth's father also doesn't want to end up with a bad terms with his son, so he apologized to him.
"Right, sorry about that, anyway– We've killed enough for today, we can sell some of these grass rabbits at the market and save some for us to eat." He said as he grabbed the dead rabbits that is laying on the ground, its fur were white, and it has a sharp teeth like a triangle instead of a rectangular one.
'Grass rabbits.. I've killed a few, they're quick to reproduce and has a delicious meat, that's who they are.. They typically live in grasslands or grassy hills, that's why they're called grass rabbits, they live by eating insects and mushrooms, which is why they're also great for pests control, if i want to kill it using a sword, i have to sneak up upon them since they'd run at the sight of everything thats bigger than them.. I should've been able to kill some today, i don't know why but my mind has been hazy lately, i feel like i was asleep for a few minutes..' Orbeth thought, he suddenly had the urge to recall the description of Grass Rabbits.
If it wasn't obvious already, Orbeth was born in a hunter family, while it sounds similar to an adventurer, there's actually a difference. A Hunter usually stays at the same town for the rest of their lives while an adventurer goes to different places every week or even day, a hunter also has a different way of earning money, they sold their hunted corpses to a butcher or the market guild if they live in cities while adventurer had to strictly sold their hunt to the adventurer guild.
Being a hunter wasn't really that uncommon, but it's also not that common as not many people wants to go outside to hunt food where dangerous monsters could potentially appear at any moment.
At Orbeth's house in the evening..
"Mom, we're back." Zafir said as he opened the front door of their house in town, he stepped inside followed by Orbeth and his father a soon after, the three of them took off their boots and leaned it on the walls.
"Ah, welcome back!" A woman voice was heard from other rooms, it must be Orbeth's mother.
She appeared moments later with her hands wet, there was water dripping off of it, and from the fragrant smell that comes from it, it seems like she's in the middle of washing their clothes.
Orbeth's mother was a beautiful woman, her hair were colored with dark brown hues and a ponytail, despite her rather normal outfit, her beauty can still melt anyone that looks at her.
"How did the hunt go?" Mother asked, she noticed the multiple grass rabbits corpse behind Orbeth's dad, but she still want to ask just for the fun of it.
"Ah that? It's a success like usual." Said Father with a happy face, his proud expression is enough to convince everyone that he's a good father.
"Ohh wonderful! Then i guess i'll have to cook a lot of delicious food for all of you!" Mother responded, Father smile seems to have spread to her as she also widened her lips.
"Haha! See that Orbeth? We will eat lots today! Don't you think you need to say something to your father?" Father said as he looked at Orbeth, his smile gradually turned into a smirk.
"Tch.. T- thanks, dad.." Orbeth said, almost unwillingly, but he had to agree that his father did almost everything in the hunt today.
The 4 of them soon be over with their short chit-chat and Orbeth along with his brother entered their own bedroom to relax while his parents are preparing for food, they skinned the grass rabbits and then cut them into multiple pieces, after what seem like two hours of waiting, the sun had already disappeared and night came together with the call from their mother.
"Orbeth! Zafir!! Come out of your room, let's eat!" Said Mother as she placed the large bowl that holds the cooked rabbit on the middle of the dining table.
"Alright!"
"Yess!"
'Today has been great, i hope this will continue for a little bit longer.' Orbeth thought as he walked out of his room.
'Although im the only one who uses a sword, i still believe that i can be an exceptional swordsman if i receive enough training, maybe i'll ask mother and father to let me enroll in the swordmanship academy..'
