As they arrived at the towering and imposing Black Dragon Amusement Park, a herd of alpacas seemed to gallop through Yin Jixue's heart.
Was this really what she had asked for?
Yin Jixue was baffled.
But then, seeing the system progress bar shoot up rapidly, she thought maybe the design wasn't that bad after all.
Even though it looked kind of terrifying, it wasn't that scary, right?
Yin Jixue gripped Lou Zhao's hand tightly and whispered to him, "You'll protect me later, won't you?"
Lou Zhao didn't quite get what was going on, but still replied, "Of course I'll protect you." Though he wondered—why would his little wife ask something like that?
Upon hearing that the Queen and the Demon King had arrived, Tengshe and Gouchen somehow popped out of nowhere and insisted on joining the fun.
After all, amusement parks are only fun when there's a crowd.
Yin Jixue looked like she'd lost the will to live. She absolutely could not scream.
Well then… just play along. She couldn't slap her face after what she said, right?
Dragon One and the others didn't notice the shift in Yin Jixue's expression; they only thought the princess had truly changed.
Dragon Two sighed, "The Princess is formidable. Back when she insisted on marrying into the Demon Clan, it truly wasn't just a joke."
Dragon One had mixed feelings. "I never imagined the Princess would one day become stronger than us. Back then, His Majesty wouldn't let me teach her martial arts. She practiced horse stances every day on her own, right up until her wedding."
Bai Baobao and Bai Buer also joined in, getting Bai Yan to hold them so they could ride the roller coaster with Yin Jixue.
The little tigers were tough. Even if they fell from the top, they'd be fine—might just leave a crater in the ground at most.
Though the amusement park didn't quite match Yin Jixue's aesthetic, it was wildly popular with the demons.
Especially because it started terrifying, but was so addictive that one ride would have you lining up for a second.
Elder Turtle was currently hailing a cab in the city, sneaking off to ride the Black Dragon Amusement Park roller coaster again behind the Demon King's back.
He refused to believe he'd get scared into reverting to his original form again.
The roller coaster started moving slowly, and Yin Jixue told herself that she'd ridden one before—there was no way she'd get scared.
That was until the coaster suddenly plunged toward the ground. The designer had secretly modified the underground section overnight for added thrill.
Right before the plunge, all one could see was the ground—no tunnel, no tracks in sight.
It was genuinely thrilling. If you didn't know better, you'd think the ride had malfunctioned and was about to slam straight into the earth.
Lou Zhao thought it wasn't a big deal. Yin Jixue, though… was struggling a bit—but still holding on.
She kept brainwashing herself: No one dies in an amusement park. I can get through this.
So when the coaster slammed into the tunnel entrance, she clenched her teeth and didn't make a single sound.
Only after entering the underground tunnel did she finally exhale deeply.
Lou Zhao asked in a calm tone, "Was that so scary?"
Yin Jixue gave him a sweet smile. "Not scary at all. I thought it was quite fun."
—All for pride.
Lou Zhao thought it was strange—then why was her heart beating so fast just now?
The roller coaster underground felt like a frenzied version of Snake. Yin Jixue was grateful she hadn't eaten yet. Otherwise, she might've puked her guts out.
Soon, the coaster burst out of the tunnel. A blinding flash ahead made her close her eyes instinctively.
When she opened them again, she saw a towering skyward track looming ahead.
She gulped.
No way...
How is this even supposed to work?
Lou Zhao couldn't take it anymore. Her heart was racing like crazy. He placed a hand over hers.
"Your hand's freezing. Let me warm it up for you."
Yin Jixue finally calmed down. Her boyfriend was right next to her—what was there to be scared of?
Unfazed!
The roller coaster launched straight into the sky. Despite saying she wasn't scared, her pupils dilated, and her heart clenched tightly.
Oh my god, which mad genius designed this? Come out and fight me!
She started missing that old fairytale-style amusement park.
Could the dark fairytale aesthetic please leave the Black Dragon Clan?
If they let kids ride this thing, would their fragile little minds even survive?
Wait—she could hear screams from the back. That had to be Lian Ze, scared out of his wits.
Listening more carefully, turns out… she was the only one suffering.
In the back row, Lian Ze was having the time of his life, laughing wildly.
Bai Buer, now in his teenage form, was also yelling joyfully.
So love does disappear, huh?
Yin Jixue looked pitifully at Lou Zhao.
"Why aren't any of you scared?"
Sure, she could handle it, but her pupils were still in full-blown panic mode at the sight of that sky-high track!
Lou Zhao answered truthfully, "Even if this thing breaks and we fall from the top, we won't get hurt. Might just feel a little uncomfortable."
Fair enough. Yin Jixue decided her new native tongue was going to be "speechless."
To these people, this was like grown-ups playing on a carousel—purely for laughs.
Turns out, she was the clown.
Unforgivable. Why was she the only one getting scared?
Yin Jixue clenched her fist. "I'm going to open the amusement park to the public! All demons can come ride, tickets are half-price this year. Everyone's gotta experience it—I can't be the only one who's scared!"
Lou Zhao shook his head. "Maybe if you opened it to humans, then you wouldn't be the only one scared."
Yin Jixue raised an eyebrow. "Open to humans? You think they'd even dare to come?"
Just hearing the word "Demon Clan" sounded terrifying. And demons, barring accidents, were immortal. Wouldn't humans have a mental breakdown just looking at them?
"As long as they dare to come, the city itself is safe. Outside the city… well, who knows what might happen."
Yin Jixue shook her head. Better not.
Letting family visit now and then was fine—call it a vacation. But opening it up to humans? No thanks.
That might lead to a return of slavery, humans serving demons—social regression isn't exactly a great look.
Better if everyone thrives in their lanes.
As they chatted, the roller coaster hit its highest point—easily ten kilometers in the air.
Yin Jixue had already made peace with it. She wasn't going to die, after all. Just grit her teeth and push through.
But just as she thought that, the next moment, the track broke.
You've got to be kidding me. Do they have to keep freaking her out like this?
Designer, come out and get punched!
Luckily, the broken end was still connected to another set of tracks. It dropped thousands of meters but landed smoothly on a new line. This ride was straight-up unholy.
Art can be niche, but it shouldn't be cursed.
Same principle: an amusement park can be down-to-earth, but not down-to-hell!
Yin Jixue closed her eyes and pretended she was flying.
That made it a lot more bearable.
When the coaster landed on the new track, there wasn't even an impact. She gave the designer props for that—she'd been bracing to bust her tailbone.
The shock absorption on this thing was impressive. It might be useful for mountain vehicles.
Put it in a car with a tough enough shell—not only would it withstand demon beast attacks, it could drive through a forest without a single bump.
Granted, forests were dense, but driving from Black Dragon City to the human border? That could work.
Speaking of which, her mom was now Empress Dowager, and her dad had become Retired Emperor. Maybe she should invite them to visit the Demon Realm—it would be a trip of a lifetime.
They'd be the most prestigious human emperor and empress ever to visit the Demon Clan.
Yin Jixue didn't give the roller coaster a shred of respect. The moment the scary part passed, her thoughts began to wander.
She was a tireless worker. What other queen worked this hard?
She pinched Lou Zhao's arm. "You be the Queen for me. I want to usurp the throne and become Demon King!"
Lou Zhao agreed without hesitation. "Alright. From now on, I'll be your wife."
