Chapter 140 - Chapter Title: "Accelerating Timelines"

Part 1/2

Seconds ticked by. Chino frowned—was he about to be proven wrong?

Plop.

A bubble rose from the coffin's water.

Everyone leaned forward. It's working!

"Gurgle... gurgle..."

The blond Peter Parker's eyes flew open as he sat up violently.

"Cough cough—WHAT THE—? I died! Why am I alive in a coffin? And wait, you guys look familiar—"

His words spilled out like machine-gun fire.

Chino's eye twitched. This one's got Deadpool-level verbal diarrhea. He fished the soggy Spider-Man out and tossed him to the others for explanations.

"Now then," Chino turned to Kingpin. "Do we have a deal?"

"What do you want?"

"Everything. Your assets, vehicles, organization—let's see what they're worth to you." Chino materialized a contract, his voice dripping with honeyed temptation.

"...I accept."

The moment Kingpin signed, Chino handed him two revival serums. "You saw how it's done."

Kingpin clutched the vials and fled like hell itself chased him.

"Chino..." Gwen hesitated. "Were those real?" After what happened to Carnage, mercy seemed unlikely.

"Of course," Chino smiled. "But revival serums only work if the brain's intact. His loved ones have been dead over a year—too far gone."

The cruelest punishment was hope.

True despair wasn't darkness—it was glimpsing light, only to grasp at rotting seaweed.

Gwen's expression grew complicated. The other Spiders' faces fell too—they'd secretly hoped to bargain for their own lost ones.

"Think I tricked him?" Chino asked.

"No. Just... terrified this is all a dying dream," Gwen whispered, vulnerability flashing across her face.

Chino didn't answer. Instead, he strode forward—

—and kissed her.

Gwen's eyes bulged. Her hands fluttered weakly against his chest as her brain short-circuited.

"WHOA!" the Spiders chorused.

Miles tried peeking, only for Noir to cover his eyes. "Kid, no."

Penny vibrated with excitement. "SO INTENSE! Overlord claims confused Spider!"

Damian yawned. Amateurs. He'd seen worse at breakfast.

Meanwhile, Venom cooed: "Breathe, baby! Mommy's got you!"

"Would your dream-me do this?" Chino murmured when they finally parted.

Gwen's legs wobbled. As coherence returned, her face turned nuclear. "N-NEVER! PERVERT!" She scrambled behind Venom, less offended by the kiss than by the audience.

Part 2/2

"How about you all?" Chino turned to the Spiders. "Care to sign contracts?"

"W-what kind?" Peter B. asked warily.

"Join my demon conglomerate. I'll send you home and revive one loved one per person. In exchange, you'll staff my interdimensional branches and help gather resources."

His real target? Their worlds—especially Penny's futuristic 3145 NYC.

The Spiders tensed. Was this invasion? Conquest? Their minds raced with apocalyptic scenarios. Yet... he had saved them. Would refusal mean death?

"Relax," Chino sighed. "You're Gwen's friends. No coercion—and I swear no interference in your worlds' affairs."

These Spiders were 99% pure-hearted heroes. He preferred not to dirty his hands. Even Octo-Spider (body snatched by Doc Ock) had become the noble "Superior Spider-Man."

They hesitated. Reviving loved ones was their deepest desire, but at what cost?

"Can we... think it over?" Peter B. asked.

"Call me Chino. Or Boss, if you sign." He outlined benefits: generous salaries, cutting-edge gear, and resurrections.

Blond Peter and Miles immediately agreed—their world was already involved anyway.

The others wavered. Most Spiders lived paycheck-to-paycheck. The offer was tempting.

"We'll... consider it carefully." They flocked to Gwen for intel.

Chino finally eyed the trembling Ms. Octopus.

"Two choices: join Carnage's barbecue, or my company."

"Option two, Boss!" she squeaked.

"How long to fix the collider?"

"Three months minimum." That was with round-the-clock work.

"Too slow. I'll get you help—accelerate things."

Ms. Octopus paled. More hands wouldn't help unless... Oh god. He's bringing in better scientists.
