"He just left like that? Who was that guy anyway? Also, his aura was terrifying. That was the first time I've seen someone like him."
As soon as they left the principal's office, Miku Izayoi started asking Tohka about Nick Fury.
After all, the impression he left was too strong.
Back on the helicarrier, Fury's attention hadn't been on her, so she didn't feel it as much.
But this time, facing him directly, she realized just how terrifying he really was.
Honestly, Nick Fury's power was nothing to write home about in her eyes—
But for some reason, he still filled her with fear.
"Don't worry about that guy. He's just a top-level agent. Don't be fooled by how young he looks—he's at least seventy or eighty years old."
Tohka had known Fury for a long time and, influenced by Tony, didn't feel any reverence toward him, so her words weren't exactly polite.
Hey, miss, you can't just talk about our boss like that."
At that moment, a cheeky voice rang out.
Tohka turned to see four somewhat familiar figures.
The one who spoke was the more energetic one, always acting overly familiar.
Seeing Tohka and Miku looking over, he struck what he thought was a cool pose.
"So, ladies, how about a cup of tea with me?"
"..."
Okay, awkward.
Neither Tohka nor Miku replied.
One stared at him coldly, the other tilted her head, seemingly lost in thought.
"Hmph, serves you right. How's it feel to be totally ignored?"
At that moment, the girl in the group couldn't help but mock him.
"Oh no, why? Why? I'm this handsome and still can't get a girlfriend?"
"Even that damned Spider reportedly has a girlfriend!"
Crushed by her words, the boy clutched his head in despair, looking totally defeated.
"Wait, I remember who you are."
Tohka suddenly spoke up, perking the boy right up.
But the next moment, she dealt him a critical blow.
"You're the guy who flies around with a bucket on his head!"
"Then you must be 'White Tiger,' 'Iron Fist,' and 'Power Man' too."
"Why, why, why is it like this?"
As Tohka called out each of their names in order, the boy slumped to the ground, totally devastated.
Tohka was speechless.
Now she finally understood why Fury had sent them here instead of to that spy school.
Probably because the big guy wanted them to retain their personalities.
Compared to being spies, they were better off becoming superheroes.
Also, age-wise, it made more sense.
"By the way, what are you guys doing here? It's class time. You trying to get scolded by the teachers?" Tohka was confused.
She didn't think they were waiting for her—they barely knew each other.
"We're here to wait for a new member. He's reporting today."
White Tiger stepped up to explain to Tohka.
Since she was a girl, and they'd heard Eastern girls tended to be conservative.
"Huh, who is it? Fury found another superpowered person?"
Tohka understood immediately. That person was obviously meant to be part of their team. Fury wouldn't let a normal person join them—they'd just get ostracized.
"There you guys are. And, oh, this young lady too. You're here too, huh. That mind control of yours felt awful that day."
Peter Parker rushed over with his backpack, spotting Tohka and Miku right away.
Apparently, Spider-Man had fallen victim to Miku's power the night he roamed New York.
So, seeing her again brought back some memories.
"What's this about? Did you agree to join S.H.I.E.L.D.?"
Tohka eyed him curiously, suspecting that Fury had talked him into it.
Though in many universes Spider-Man was a solo act, in some he did join teams.
"Yeah. That night, Director Fury and Tony both talked to me. They advised me to join S.H.I.E.L.D. Plus that night..."
He glanced nervously at Miku before continuing,
"To improve myself, I decided to join."
"Eh, fine. At least now you can be a full-time superhero, without worrying about the bills."
Tohka didn't object.
She remembered how miserable Peter's life was in the early movies.
They were well-made but too dark overall.
So, joining S.H.I.E.L.D. meant Peter wouldn't have to worry about money anymore.
"Alright, let's go. You guys keep waiting. Also, Spider-Man, don't let anyone other than Fury and Coulson know your identity, not even inside S.H.I.E.L.D."
As they left, Tohka made sure to warn him.
After all, he was her friend—she didn't mind giving him a heads-up.
"Got it. I'll tell Fury not to share it with anyone."
Peter nodded to show he understood.
"No, I mean don't even let it be in your personnel file."
Tohka knew that one day in the future, S.H.I.E.L.D. would be completely taken over by HYDRA.
When that happened, a lot of confidential data would leak.
"Alright, fine, I got it."
Peter didn't quite understand why she said that, but he still nodded in agreement.
"Let's go, Tohka. Let's head to class."
At that moment, Miku urged her forward.
She didn't like being around any men.
And now Tohka was standing around chatting with a bunch of them.
So, Miku was obviously displeased.
"See you later, I'm leaving now."
Tohka had no idea what was going on in Miku's head.
She waved goodbye and walked off with her.
If she knew, she'd probably be speechless.
After all, in her past life she was an otaku who didn't mind making friends with people.
But that was all.
"Who were those people, especially the last one who arrived? You seem pretty close to him."
On the way to class, Miku looked at Tohka with jealousy. Tohka was at a loss—this girl...
"He's just a regular friend. That guy already has a girlfriend."
Tohka was extremely exasperated and had no idea what was going on in Miku's head.
This was the first time she had encountered something like this.
As the two joked and chatted, they arrived at the classroom door.
Since class was in session and she had Miku with her, she didn't barge in but knocked politely.
"Come in."
The homeroom teacher's voice came from inside.
"Ah, you're here, Tohka."
The teacher looked a bit helpless.
Tohka always did as she pleased—came and went as she liked. But her grades were good, and she excelled in many areas.
On top of that, higher-ups had told her not to hassle Tohka.
As for calling her parents, the teacher figured Tohka's guardians would be even more of a headache.
"Ah, you must be Miku Izayoi. I heard just yesterday that you'd be joining us. Come on up and introduce yourself."
The teacher now turned her attention to Miku.
"Hello everyone, I'm..."
As expected of a big star, Miku Izayoi handled herself well in front of a crowd.
She stepped up to the podium gracefully and began her self-introduction.
