Chapter 125 - The Purpose

"Alright, alright, I didn't mean anything else, I just want to talk to your friend."

Being stared at like that by Tohka, even Nick Fury felt a chill down his spine.

At such close range, if Tohka were to attack, he wouldn't even have the chance to resist.

He quickly withdrew his aura, which made Miku Izayoi let out a sigh of relief.

"Miss Miku Izayoi, we've already investigated your identity. But just like Tohka, the two of you have no records whatsoever—it's like you appeared out of thin air."

This wasn't an exaggeration. In the world, aside from some extremely primitive tribes, everyone leaves behind all kinds of records.

Even special agents are the same, though they tend to leave behind only unimportant information.

But Tohka and Miku Izayoi had absolutely nothing. It was understandably suspicious.

If the two were ordinary people, it would be one thing—but both of them were capable of causing massive casualties when they made a move.

How could that not make him wary?

One or two might be manageable. These two weren't evil by nature.

But what if more showed up?

Just the thought gave Nick Fury a headache.

And if one or two of them were malicious... ha, just look at what happened in New York. That would be the result.

So, no matter what, he had to confirm things again to prevent any further incidents.

After all, based on his readings, both Tohka and Miku Izayoi used the same type of energy to power themselves.

"If you have something to say, say it quick. Being around someone like you, the head of spies, is exhausting."

Watching Fury withdraw his aura, Tohka rolled her eyes.

Honestly, talking to someone like him was exhausting—he always spoke in riddles. She couldn't be bothered to figure out.

"Alright then, I just wanted to ask: are there only the two of you, or are there more people like you?"

"After all, you saw the battle that day. America suffered major losses. For the safety of the world, we need to be sure."

Seeing Tohka's expression, Nick Fury didn't waste more words and got straight to the point.

He knew if he kept going in circles, Tohka might just leave with Miku Izayoi, and his whole day would've been wasted.

Time was tight—last night's battle had been too intense. Even though it was over, there were still a lot of follow-up matters.

Right now, he was fully investigating who had broken the Graviton out.

As for Kingpin himself, even though Tony had filled him in, he didn't believe that fat guy was the real mastermind.

The prison that held Kingpin had been specially reinforced, with heavy defenses.

He didn't believe that mob boss could figure out the whole layout on his own.

So, he knew there was a mole.

As for the crime boss, he didn't make a move yet—he was monitoring him, hoping to use him to draw out the one behind the scenes.

"About that..."

Hearing Nick Fury's question, Tohka and Miku Izayoi exchanged glances, unsure of what to say.

Miku Izayoi didn't know, but Tohka did.

However, even Tohka couldn't be certain whether others would arrive in this world.

"For now, it's just the two of us. As for others... I'm not sure. If nothing unexpected happens, probably not."

In the end, Tohka stepped forward to explain.

Of course, she didn't speak too definitively.

"I see. Got it."

Hearing Tohka's words, Nick Fury nodded.

He caught the uncertainty in her tone and followed up, "Then do you know what kind of powers those who might come would have?"

"You've seen it—although you and this little girl next to you use the same energy source, your abilities are vastly different."

"I don't know. Each of us has different powers. I've never even met them, so how could I possibly know?"

Tohka didn't even think before replying.

Admitting anything would only complicate matters.

As for whether those Spirits would cause trouble if they came—she wasn't worried.

Even Kurumi rarely attacked people unprovoked.

Of course, if someone went looking for death, that was a different matter. She couldn't help with that.

"Alright then, let's leave it at that."

Seeing Tohka's firm refusal, Nick Fury didn't push further.

She had been so direct—he had no room to maneuver.

If it were just Tohka, maybe he could coax some more out of her.

But Miku Izayoi was standing silently by her side, and she was a high-level psychic.

So, he dropped any sneaky thoughts.

"By the way, I heard Miss Miku Izayoi wants to become a pop star?"

After finishing with Tohka, Nick Fury turned his attention to Miku Izayoi.

Don't be fooled by his calm demeanor—he still had an audio filter device in his ear.

He didn't know if it worked, but it was better than doing nothing.

"Yeah, so what?"

Before Miku Izayoi could speak, Tohka answered first.

She also gave Nick Fury a sharp look.

She couldn't remember how many people she had told about this—yet somehow Nick Fury knew.

That made her suspicious.

"It's not what you think. Tony told me yesterday."

"You have to understand—she controls people with her voice, and now she wants to be a singer.

Of course people are going to pay attention to that."

Seeing Tohka's expression, Nick Fury immediately understood and hurried to explain.

Tony was good in this area—he wouldn't spy on them.

But if he was caught doing so, with Tony's personality, it might cause a major blow-up.

Americans really value their privacy.

Some things are fine if not discovered, but once exposed, they could lead to huge trouble.

"Yeah, so what? What exactly are you trying to say?"

Tohka stared at Nick Fury, not understanding what he was getting at.

"Nothing much. Since Tony's entrusted her to you, I'd like you to keep an eye on her—don't let her abuse her powers."

"After all, your the only person that we know is immune to her control."

To keep Miku Izayoi from hearing, Nick Fury pulled Tohka aside to whisper this in secret.

Obviously, on this point, both he and Tony were in agreement.

As for locking Miku Izayoi up, someone had thought of it.

But after seeing Tohka's reaction, that idea was scrapped.

So, for safety's sake, they decided to step back and have Tohka watch over her.
