His voice boomed like thunder, echoing above the loudest cheers. Each syllable struck like lightning through the bones of the crowd
"This power that they hold never belonged to them! It was ours. It still is ours. They built their towers off of your backs and still expect you to suffer? None of this was ever fair!"
A murmur spread through the crowd.
"Look around you! I see thousands of people who have been beaten down by the system over and over again. But you are not alone in this. You are not weak! But only together can we make this change happen!"
Then, gunfire.
The crowd exploded into chaos as Kael searched the masses for the culprit.
A soldier had fired into the sky. The barrel still smoked. His eyes were wide, panicked. Other soldiers raised their weapons instinctively, following the soldier's lead.
"Hold your fire!" Kael bellowed, stepping forward. "These people are not your enemies!"
