Chapter 159: God-Level Monster Garou
Chang Wei didn't jump in immediately. Since someone else had taken over the task of advancing Garou's evolution, he was more than happy to enjoy the moment of peace.
After being sent flying by a single punch from Garou, Terrible Tornado instantly realized that this Garou was on a completely different level than Sai Orochi, whom she had previously fought.
"You bastard… could it be that you're actually the Monster King of this Monster Association?"
Terrible Tornado narrowed her eyes as she looked at Garou and asked.
"Monster King?"
Garou let out a chuckle.
"The so-called Monster King wouldn't even be a match for me. I am the strongest monster!"
It was as if Tornado's words had provoked something in Garou.
His aura began to rise steadily.
The pitch-black substance covering his body also started changing, responding to the surge in his spirit. It began to spread, radiating outward from Garou's body.
This made Garou look even more monstrous. His hair, previously styled like ram's horns, was now curled and twisted like bull horns.
"Hah? What nonsense are you rambling about?"
Terrible Tornado found his words incomprehensible.
"I am the one and only monster—the true monster: Garou!"
With a roar, Garou vanished from sight.
By now, Tornado was no longer underestimating him.
"Hmph, over there!"
She instantly pinpointed the location where Garou had reappeared—but Garou unexpectedly showed up behind her instead.
With a sinister grin, Garou thought to himself: Psychics are powerful, but they rely too much on their abilities. That dependency makes their senses and reactions easier to deceive—just like now.
He had manipulated his aura to mislead Tornado's perception, making her believe he was in one place when he had already moved elsewhere.
"God Slayer… Flash Strike!!!"
Garou's twin fists tore through the air, smashing toward Tornado's back—
"Empty?"
But right after, Garou realized what he'd struck was just a pile of rocks.
"What?!"
He was in disbelief—She saw through it?
"All that sneaking around with your aura—did you really think you could fool my telekinesis?"
Tornado scoffed. Her psychic powers had been honed to the point where they functioned almost like her own eyes, nose, and ears. She'd only been caught off guard at the start by Garou's speed. But once she sensed two "Garous," she understood what was happening.
So she immediately replaced herself with a stone decoy using her telekinesis.
"Die!"
Tornado raised a boulder, compressed to the size of a car from parts of the Monster Association's base, and brought it crashing down on Garou from above!
A stone compressed to this degree had unimaginable density. Garou couldn't break it in an instant—on the contrary, this blow injured him.
Spurt!
But then—boom!—the ground nearby exploded open, and Garou emerged from below.
"Incredible strength…"
Garou had suffered significant injuries. The black substance formed from his blood, skin, keratin, and hair had large portions shredded and torn.
Tornado's overwhelming power had put immense pressure on him.
It wasn't just brute force—her counterattack after seeing through his tactics showed her exceptional battlefield awareness and strategy, completely catching him off guard.
"Quit the chatter!"
Seeing how quickly Garou was recovering, Tornado knew this would turn into a drawn-out fight—and more importantly, she realized the depth of his power.
"Try this, then!"
Terrible Tornado used her psychic powers to mimic Chang Wei—manipulating electromagnetic forces!
"She actually learned my move…? I thought you couldn't do it without the proper formulas and data?"
Chang Wei, watching the battle, was stunned as the move appeared right in front of him.
"Your Majesty, it's different!" one of the River of Death researchers quickly jumped in to explain.
"Tornado is a pure psychic—she does everything by instinct. Besides, her version is a mess. The success rate should be practically zero…"
"We calculated formulas, data, and this planet's magnetic field to determine the most efficient, optimal method. If you're going to waste tons of energy for a tiny effect, you might as well just use plain old telekinesis."
Just then, they saw Tornado successfully manipulate the electromagnetic force.
"Psychic work can't really be quantified, but it's definitely taxing!"
The researchers quickly added.
And sure enough, Tornado was clearly straining. She hadn't expected manipulating the planet's magnetic field to be so terrifying. Normally she could lift or throw things with ease.
Now, her bones were trembling under the exertion.
But the results were immediate. Garou's body began to break down.
"What… is this?"
Garou felt it was similar to telekinesis—but he'd already developed resistance to psychic attacks. They shouldn't work on him anymore.
But now his body was visibly dented, the black armor-like substance unable to shield him. His bones had suffered severe trauma. By all logic, he should be incapable of fighting.
And yet, Garou still stood up.
"That's impossible!"
Even Tornado couldn't believe it. How could Garou do something she herself couldn't?
"This is what happens… when humans live carefree lives under your protection. Without the threat of monsters, discrimination, bullying, war—all of it intensifies. Greed, arrogance, jealousy, lust… these deep-rooted flaws begin to fester in their souls, spawning even greater evil."
"Your Hero Association is no exception. As the centerpiece under the protective umbrella, it'll be the first to rot."
"Only in the face of absolute terror and equal fear will humanity purge these dark impulses. Only then will they unite and struggle to survive."
"I—who fight for world peace—will never be defeated by your so-called justice!"
"I am Garou—a God-level monster!!!"
Roaring his convictions, Garou's body underwent yet another transformation. The pitch-black substance, triggered by his surging emotions, expanded and restructured itself. His body grew larger; his muscle mass and proportions optimized; his physical capabilities evolved in a geometric leap.
Inside Garou, Sai Orochi awakened—only to be instantly devoured by the black substance coursing through Garou's body.
Just like how they had once devoured others, now they had no power to resist being absorbed by this force.
It became Garou's new nourishment, helping him adapt to the electromagnetic constraints.
At that point, Tornado could no longer hold her ground. Garou blasted her away. Her psychic barrier shattered, and the backlash left her brain foggy and spinning.
"I… I can't…"
Tornado forced herself to remain upright.
"…That's enough. I'll take it from here."
At that moment, Chang Wei finally stepped forward to face the now fully stabilized God-level threat—Garou.
"The strongest hero… Chang Wei!"
Garou stared directly at him.
