Chapter 102: Cleaning Up
"Seras."
Chang Wei pressed his hand against Seras' forehead.
"Unforgivable!"
Heinkel fired at Chang Wei.
Not just her—the Fatty Major also opened fire. But his aim was so terrible that even at close range, he emptied an entire magazine without hitting a target just a few meters away.
It was as if he were cursed.
Chang Wei wasn't going to indulge them. The moment Heinkel's bullet touched his body, he forcefully altered its trajectory, deflecting it within milliseconds. The bullet veered off course and struck Heinkel's sniper scope, piercing straight through her skull.
That meant that thirty years from now, the Vatican's ace wouldn't exist.
In the original timeline, Heinkel hadn't undergone reconstructive surgery to restore her appearance. Fueled by hatred, she had become the new ace of Iscariot, much like Seras had.
But now? That was no longer a possibility.
Still, the Vatican existed in a world with true higher beings. It might weaken for a time, but with its deep foundations, it wouldn't collapse so easily. Like a centipede that doesn't die even when cut, or a rotting ship that still has nails holding it together.
That was them.
As for the Fatty Major, Chang Wei didn't even bother moving. It wasn't as if the man could hit him anyway.
Sure enough, the Fatty Major himself knew his shooting was random at best. He was merely hoping that Chang Wei would kill him, but to his frustration, Chang Wei ignored him completely.
From the very start.
From the very beginning, Chang Wei had never spoken to him, never even looked at him. Even after snatching victory from his grasp, he had said nothing. He had treated him as if he didn't exist.
For the Fatty Major, this was a devastating blow. First, Chang Wei had absorbed Schrödinger and remained unaffected. Then, he had killed Alucard. But more than anything, it was Chang Wei's attitude—
This wasn't just contempt. No, it was something even worse. He had been completely disregarded.
The Fatty Major prided himself on his charisma and his unyielding will. But precisely because of that, he was prone to obsession.
Chang Wei understood his fixation. And by targeting that weakness, he made sure the Fatty Major suffered the most.
Still not breaking down? His willpower truly was formidable. But the stronger he was, the more unbearable this situation would be.
Ignoring the Fatty Major entirely, Chang Wei grabbed Seras and the Werewolf Captain, preparing to leave. But just as he was about to depart, he looked up and saw a small glowing point in the sky.
"So decisive?"
Chang Wei hadn't expected this.
In the original timeline, it had been mentioned that the Queen of Great Britain had given the order—if Hellsing failed, they were to use their ultimate weapon against the enemy.
But with both the Air Force and Navy already fallen, where had this nuke come from?
If Britain's military hadn't been completely compromised, the Vatican wouldn't have dared to carry out a mass purge of heretics and non-believers in London.
"Mr. Chang Wei, what is that?"
Seras stared at the growing point of light.
"A nuclear bomb."
Considering Seras' level of education, Chang Wei kept it simple.
"AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"
Seras' eyes widened in horror as she clutched her head.
"What do we do?! We have to run!"
She shouted in panic.
"What's there to be afraid of? It's just a nuke. Even you could handle it."
Chang Wei reassured her.
"No way! That's impossible!"
Seras shook her head violently.
"Don't underestimate yourself. You're my progeny. A nuclear bomb is nothing."
Chang Wei smirked.
Thanks to the enhancements from the Blacklight virus, handling nuclear radiation wasn't an issue. The virus could absorb it, after all. As long as they didn't stand directly at ground zero, they would survive—even if they were in the same city as the blast.
To boost Seras' confidence, Chang Wei decided not to dodge.
The Werewolf Captain obviously wouldn't survive a nuclear explosion under normal circumstances, but he also stood still, showing no fear.
Seras wanted to run. But she was too afraid to do so.
And then, she saw the sun bloom on Earth's surface.
"AAAAAHHHH! MY EYES! MY EYES!!!"
In an instant, her eyes were scorched away. The terrifying radiation seared her retinas, making her experience firsthand what it was like to stare directly into the sun.
But then, as if triggered by the extreme conditions, the Blacklight virus within her surged into action, rapidly regenerating her eyes.
Still in the middle of her agonized screams, Seras suddenly realized—she could see again.
"Eh? I'm fine?"
She blinked in disbelief, looking around.
Then, the shockwave and thermal radiation arrived.
"WAAAAHHHHHHH!!!"
She screamed as the blast wave sent her flying. Her body was hurled who-knows-how-far away.
"What a lively one."
Chang Wei commented with amusement.
As for the Werewolf Captain, he remained perfectly fine under the protection of Chang Wei's telekinesis.
Once the nuclear strike had passed, the Fatty Major was dead—well and truly dead.
Seras got back up, realizing that not only was she unharmed, but she felt more powerful than ever.
"Mr. Chang Wei, I feel... better than I ever have before."
Seras rushed over, eyes wide with excitement.
"Of course. You are my progeny, after all. Also, stop calling me Mr. Chang Wei. From now on, call me 'Master.'"
Chang Wei said.
"...M-Master?"
Seras' face flushed red.
That was such a humiliating title! Why would he make her call him that?!
"You are my progeny. Naturally, you should call me Master."
Chang Wei flicked her forehead.
"Ow!"
Seras clutched her forehead, feeling as if her skull had nearly cracked open.
"Master!"
Faced with the overwhelming difference in power, Seras quickly surrendered.
"Master, we should leave this place as soon as possible."
After all, they had just devoured all of London. She had no idea where all that mass had gone or why her Master could eat so much, but...
Regardless, London was the capital of Britain.
They were definitely going to face repercussions for this.
"No need to worry. Britain won't recover from this."
Chang Wei said calmly.
He wasn't sure how the original story had managed to maintain some sort of fantasy peace afterward, but that was no longer possible.
He had shattered the balance.
The complete erasure of London was enough to make the world take notice—and fear.
Not to mention, they had walked out of a nuclear blast unscathed.
With that kind of reputation, Seras and the Werewolf Captain would be just fine even after he left.
And the next time he returned?
He'd be storming the gates of Heaven itself—if Heaven even existed.
The events in Britain sent shockwaves around the world.
Publicly, the British government claimed that a miscalculation by one of their nuclear submarines had resulted in a nuclear strike wiping out London.
That was the official explanation for the masses.
But even so, the global public was gripped with fear.
Demands surged across nations for the inspection of their own nuclear arsenals.
