Chapter 101: A Hundred Chapters!!!
Chang Wei had devoured too much.
Consciousness and life, memories and souls.
Observing himself while carrying his own will also meant perceiving the existence of every being he had ever consumed.
He had already started to lose himself from absorbing so many memories. At his core, he was just an ordinary person. And in such a short span of time, he had digested the memories of hundreds, even thousands of people. Even with selective filtering, those memories weren't just emotionless text.
They were other people's lives, other people's perspectives, other people's thoughts and emotions.
"I've sacrificed everything... just to erase everything about him."
The Fatty Major stared at Chang Wei.
"I've lived for this day. I've lived for this moment. But in the end, I'm still failing..."
Even if he killed Chang Wei, even if Chang Wei ceased to exist, this wasn't the outcome he wanted.
What he truly desired was the complete erasure of Alucard. He wanted victory, not this pathetic excuse of a triumph!!!
No matter how sweet this victory seemed, to him, it was nothing more than sewage!
"AAAAAAAHHH!!!"
Chang Wei clutched his head.
"As expected... I was too greedy, too impatient..."
He had, of course, prepared for a situation like this. He wasn't an idiot. Even an idiot would know to tread carefully.
This had been just an experiment, a gamble. And now—
"Sacrifice it. Abandon everything."
Chang Wei broke free. He reasserted his sense of self.
"Schrödinger's Blood."
In his hand appeared a black iron canister, sealed with the Blacklight Virus—so secure that even a hydrogen bomb couldn't blast it open. Inside was the Schrödinger's Blood that Chang Wei had extracted.
It remained eternally active yet dangerously unstable. So, Chang Wei planned to continually seal and reinforce it with fresh Blacklight Virus until the day he could safely absorb it. Until then, it would remain within his body.
"Abandoning everything means giving up the greatest advantage of the Blacklight Virus."
Chang Wei had realized that Schrödinger's ability was fundamentally incompatible with his own. In fact, the original story had hinted at this, but he had assumed it only affected consciousness and souls. He hadn't expected it to extend even to memories.
This meant that if he chose to become Schrödinger, he would have to abandon the Blacklight Virus's ability to assimilate others—he would have to give up devouring any more targets.
At this point, even discarding all his accumulated memories wouldn't be enough. The Blacklight Virus had evolved to the point where it could consume souls. If he fully embraced Schrödinger's nature, he would be stuck at his current level of power, unable to grow stronger.
Sure, the concept of an immortal, undying self-observation was tempting. But it wasn't enough for Chang Wei to abandon both the Blacklight Virus and other potential viral abilities.
It was a pity. He wanted everything.
Still, it wasn't a total loss—the Blacklight Virus had entered an entirely new stage of evolution.
It wasn't the Blacklight Virus anymore.
It was now the "Divine Light Virus."
Perhaps this transformation was due to absorbing Anderson's heart, which contained traces of Angel Dust.
He wasn't sure whether Angel Dust was truly a material of divine origin, but in the original story, it was a key component in Vatican Section XIII's human augmentation experiments.
Only a handful of people could survive its modifications. Father Anderson was the only successful regenerator, capable of enduring an unparalleled amount of Angel Dust. Compared to him, Heinkel and Yumie had only been subjected to minute traces of it.
The rest? Mere priests and warriors who relied on silver bullets and rigorous training to battle vampires and other nocturnal creatures.
Chang Wei noticed that two new energy nodes had formed on his back.
Not quite energy nodes—more like something spawned from absorbing Anderson. The Divine Light Virus had evolved them into existence. Given their location and the type of energy they radiated, they resembled angelic wings.
But that was the extent of it. Something crucial still seemed to be missing. No matter how vast Chang Wei's energy reserves were, he couldn't push this evolution further.
If he could, he'd love to see if he could truly evolve into an angel.
Or perhaps... a demon?
Aside from that, he had also acquired the abilities of Vampire Progenitors, Werewolves, and the Helena's Nail mutation. Mist-form and wolf-form remained intact. However, River of Death had vanished—likely deemed unnecessary by the Divine Light Virus. Its instinct was to enhance both itself and its host, and it must have deemed River of Death redundant, discarding it.
That wasn't a problem.
There was still a living Alucard before him.
By devouring Alucard, he could reclaim the River of Death ability.
As for the issue of consuming more souls and having them be used solely to reinforce his own soul?
That wasn't a problem either. The Divine Light Virus was his to command. If he didn't want to consume, he wouldn't. He could simply store extra lives for later.
The final battle between Chang Wei and Alucard began.
This time, Chang Wei didn't just counterattack passively.
He became a crimson mist, engulfing Alucard entirely.
"ALUCARD!!!"
Integra shouted desperately as she saw the blood mist swallow Alucard whole.
She had always harbored a forbidden attachment to Alucard, and he felt the same. She couldn't bear to see him fall.
But Chang Wei was a monster among monsters, an absolute horror that bred despair. He had slaughtered all his enemies.
Could Alucard really kill him?
Even Integra herself didn't believe so.
All she could hope for was that Alucard would survive.
But the battle ended far quicker than she had expected.
The blood mist gathered and reformed into Chang Wei.
Alucard was nowhere to be seen.
"River of Death..."
Chang Wei uttered in satisfaction.
At last, he had obtained the ability he had come to Hellsing Ultimate for.
Compared to that, angels, Divine Light Virus, all of that was just an unexpected bonus.
"You bastard!"
Integra stormed toward Chang Wei, her voice shaking with rage.
"How dare you… HOW DARE YOU—!"
She fired at him.
Chang Wei simply stood there.
When the bullets ran out, she hurled her pistol at him in fury, but it veered off course midair.
So she drew her sword and thrust it into his chest.
"Schlick!"
Chang Wei sighed and shook his head.
He had a certain level of respect for Integra—for her unwavering will, her courage, her golden spirit.
Had this been before, he might have sought a happily-ever-after ending.
But now?
He admired her too much to let her suffer.
So he gave her a painless death.
"Mr. Chang Wei!!!"
Seras and the Captain finally arrived.
…
Where should I go next?
