Sophia's Point Of View
Davian still said nothing.
Still didn't move.
And that hurt more than any slap, any blow, any chokehold he could have given me.
"You stand there," I said, my voice low and trembling, "looking at me like I'm nothing. Like I'm the reason your world fell apart."
I shook my head, bitter laughter escaping me.
"Am I the government that seized your land?" I demanded, my voice rising again.
"Am I the one who made you greedy, Davian? Am I the one who told you to gamble EVERYTHING on a deal you couldn't guarantee?"
I took another ragged breath, staring at him through the tears.
"I LOVED YOU!" I cried out, the words a dagger in my own heart.
"God help me, I still love you!"
Silence hung thick between us — choking, suffocating.
For a moment, he just stared at me.
Then he said it.
Flatly.
Cruelly.
"Then disappear from my life."
The words hit harder than any fist ever could.
I physically staggered back a step, the pain of it winding me completely.
