Sophia's Point Of View
I scrambled to my feet, every movement a clumsy, painful struggle.
The world spun wildly around me, blurring lights, crooked lines, the cold, brutal hardness of the ground pressing against my skin still lingering.
Tears blinded me, hot and endless, streaming down my face as I clutched my throat, the bruises already blooming under my trembling fingers.
I staggered backward.
I didn't even know where I was going... just away.
Away from him. Away from his fury. Away from the wreckage of the man I once thought I could save.
"Davian…" I whispered brokenly one last time, my voice a cracked whimper swallowed by the night.
But he wasn't even looking at me anymore. He stood there, shoulders heaving, fists clenched at his sides, trembling like a volcano on the verge of eruption.
I took another step back, and another.
Each movement tore something inside me, something deep, something final.
