Lucius scratched his head as he looked into the room. "We could try Accio, but I suspect the Dark Lord would have put an anti-summoning spell on it." He drew out his wand out of his cane and waved it while calling, "Accio Ravenclaw Diadem!"
They waited a few seconds and when nothing appeared, they all sighed. "Well, it was worth a try," Lily said.
They searched for an hour without any results. Their clothing was covered in dust as they stepped back out into the hallway. Severus used his wand to remove the dust from his and Lily's clothes while Lucius did the same for his and Narcissa's.
Severus shook his head. "We could search in there forever and never find it."
"We can have another try tomorrow evening unless anyone has a better idea," Lucius suggested.
They agreed to return the next night. After Lucius and Narcissa flooed back to Malfoy Manor, Severus flopped down into his favorite recliner with a sigh, rubbing his head and messing his hair. "There must be a better way to do this."
"Maybe we could try a Point-Me spell," Lily suggested.
"We could, but I don't have much confidence that it would work." He thought for a moment and then said, "I'll give Blinky a picture of the diadem. Maybe one of the elves has seen it in there and could point it out to us, but I'll tell him not to do it around the headmaster's personal elf and only show it to the elves he trusts."
Lily nodded. "That's a good idea. Maybe one of them has seen it in there without realizing what it was."
"I'll tell him if he or any other elves find it, not to touch it and to send someone to get me."
"Sounds like a good plan," Lily said. "I'm going upstairs; I'll see you tomorrow at breakfast." She bent and kissed Severus on his cheek. "Goodnight, Sev."
"Goodnight, Lily."
Before going to his bedroom, Severus checked on his potion for Alice and Frank. The potion was due to be administered on Saturday. Augusta was going to be there. He hoped his potion worked so Neville could have his parents back. Lily and Harry had insisted on coming with him even if it meant sitting outside the Janus Thickey ward for hours.
The next morning when Blinky brought him breakfast, Severus gave him a copy of the picture of the Ravenclaw Diadem and explained that it was possibly in the Come and Go Room and if any of them spotted it, they were not to touch it, but instead to come and get him."
"We is always in and out there either taking furniture out or taking broken furniture and stuff there and Blinky will show this picture to the other elves, but will not show it to any elves who takes care of Mr. Headmaster Dumbledore especially Twinky."
"Good," Severus replied as he sat down to eat breakfast. Severus was wondering if Harry and his friends were having tea with Hagrid this afternoon. They usually did it about once a month. He, Lily, and Harry usually had dinner together during the weekend either in his quarters or Lily's.
Severus finished his breakfast and then sat back leisurely sipping his coffee while scanning the Daily Prophet. There was nothing interesting in it as usual unless you counted the article about James Potter being reinstated as an Auror. Why Cuffe considered that front page news, Severus had yet to figure out. With a snort, he tossed the Prophet aside and went upstairs to check on his snakes and speak to Harry before classes started.
Harry and his friends were seated at the Hufflepuff table today and after checking on his snakes, Severus came over to Harry who glanced over at Neville and seeing that he was talking to Cedric, asked in a low voice, "What time are we leaving tomorrow?"
"At eight and you might want to bring some of your textbooks with you as I do not have any idea how long we might be."
"Okay," Harry nodded. "Can I add Cedric to the list of visitor's this summer? I've gotten to know him a lot better and he's a great guy."
"Yes, you may and yes, Mr. Diggory is mature and responsible for his age," Severus replied getting up again. "By the way, are you and your friends having tea with Hagrid this afternoon?"
"Yes, Hagrid's going to show us a Porlock; he says there's one lives close by and guards the Unicorn heard and he's been feeding it."
"That is fine, but do follow his instructions to the letter and be very careful because Porlocks are distrustful and may attack without provocation."
Harry nodded and said, "We will, Dad."
"Good boy," Severus replied with a smile.
The morning passed quickly. Severus saw Harry second period potions. Before class started he came around his desk and leaned against it. "I know some of you are worried about your final exam and I am sure you have heard plenty of rumors about how particularly dreadful my finals are…" Harry smiled as he noted the amusement in his dad's voice. "But rest assured if you study hard, you will have no problem at all. My final is no harder than any other test I gave given you in the course of a year."
Severus could almost feel the wave of relief that flowed through the class at his announcement. "The potion we will be brewing today is a medicinal potion for simple cuts; it prevents infection and promotes fast healing. It is called 'Simplex Integro'. You probably have seen Madam Pomfrey use it. Who can tell me a bit about it?"
"I couldn't believe it, Albus. Harry cut me dead right in front of everybody in there. Right in front Snivellus and his bloody house!" James complained.
"Yeah, it was right embarrassing," Sirius added. "Especially when Minerva sided with Harry and Lily and told us to leave. Merlin's beard! We're Aurors not bloody students."
