Chapter 88 - pendant (chapter 88)

It can store things?... What does he mean by that?

I stood quietly, looking at him then he suddenly said, "Just like a pocket world of yourself, you can store things for yourself."

"Can I... store things in this pendant? "

It was a quiet a surprise a pendant that could store items larger than itself seemed too incredible to believe but then he suddenly looked at me and said, "Pour a little energy of yours into it."

He handed it over to me the moment I touched it, and and focused my key ability on it information about this pendant slowly flowed into my mind and now i didn't even need to verify its authenticity i glanced at him and then back to Jaipa, pouring a small amount of tai energy into it made it glow for a second

He said, "Now try to pour a little energy into that flute "

Without hesitation, I complied the moment I infused my energy into it, the flute glowed for a second and transformed into an energy form, getting sucked into the pendant !

It was an even greater surprise, despite knowing its functions seeing it was far more impactful than knowing i glanced at Jaipa, who was standing beside me

Then Jaipa leaned in, "And the price?"

That old man shamelessly said, "One thousand monster cores "

Jaipa suddenly spoke in an angry voice, "Are you trying to rob us clean? We don't have nearly that much... Lower the price ! "

"Ha....look at this kid nowadays holding a bag full of monster cores and trying to rob the old man how fascinating," saying that he laughed maniacally

"Take a look and see if you can find something that piques your interest "

I looked at Jaipa, who was wasting our precious time on a futile negotiation in the end, we purchased a few more items

I pulled the bag from Jaipa's shoulder and dumped it on the stall

The old man blinked. "Well, I suppose it's yours, then"

Saying that, we slowly started to head towards the well

"Rudra ! "

"What?"

"I'm hungry i don't think I can walk any further we haven't had a single morsel of food since entering this damned book."

Now that I think about it, he was right we couldn't even drink water, and food was an entirely different matter i also noticed my body weakening from the lack of sustenance for my growing body, I needed to eat more

"I guess we need to find something to eat," I said, touching my stomach

We needed to change our route because there was no enna in that direction, so we turned around and headed towards an enna I had seen earlier on our way

"Jaipa?" I asked. "How are we going to pay? We don't have a single coin currency seems like a distant concept"

"Look you mindless kid....i was prepared for this "

He pulled four monster cores from his pocket

"Ha ! "

"So he took those cores and hide them in his pocket ha ! "

" I find it funny...But couldn't laugh "

Thinking of me as from a normal person perspective they would consider me as a most pityfull person but for me i couldn't gasp them not even a thing about them so i let them be as always

After a while of Walking we were infront of a enna

The enna stood at the end of a curved street, tucked between two crooked towers and a soft, warm glow spilled from its open doorway, Jaipa marched straight in like he owned the place.

I followed, half-expecting the warmth to disappear the moment we stepped inside, It didn't instead, we were greeted with something even more jarring

Clean floors actual seats with cushions a soft, lilting hum of music

And gods help me the smell of food that didn't remind me of rot or regret

The interior was made of smooth redwood, dimly lit with hanging lanterns that floated by themselves like bored fireflies, A long polished counter ran along the far end, with glass displays showing off dishes so fresh, they might've been illusions thinking that

"Jaipa muttered. "Are we dead?"

"Maybe but if this is the afterlife, I'm robbing it blind before we move on "

A well-dressed woman in a crisp black and gold uniform walked over

"Table for two?" she asked with a perfect smile,

Jaipa held up four monster cores between his fingers like he was flashing a royal seal

" Ha...Ha nodding his head up and down like an idiot he said " Table for two "

She blinked, Then gave a small bow

"Right this way"

We were led to a corner booth lined with red velvet and enchanted steam swirling gently around our feet, It smelled like roasted spices and warm bread

Jaipa melted into his seat like it was the first real chair he'd seen in years, thinking about it until now he was in a spiritual form but now he had a physical body "We're not leaving," he whispered " I live here now"

I ignored his dramatic commentary and looked away

After a while of waiting a menu appeared in front of us, projected in mid-air by some kind of magic rune, I scrolled through it with a swipe of my finger

Steamed herb laced beast ribs

Hone grilled thornfruit

Crimson rice with powdered mir dust

"Is it weird that I don't trust any of this?" I muttered

"Yes," Jaipa replied, pointing at the ribs. "But that's why you're you and I'm ordering for both of us."

I didn't argue much and Within minutes, the food arrived, floating on silver trays carried by drifting golden hands that came out of nowhere and vanished the moment they served us

When I took a bite of it it was considerable delicious no in actually sence delicious

The meat was soft, rich with flavor, and didn't fight back when I bit into it

I didn't say much for several minutes, I just chewed and listened to Jaipa groan dramatically as he ate like it was his last meal before execution

Halfway through, I remembered the pendant I had put my stuffs in it even my newly brought clothes

I looked at jaipa Judging by how his face looks like melted wax? I'm gonna guess he drinks screams and dines on shame"

I took another bite "Fair "

The rest of the meal passed in silence, The good kind, Where for once, we weren't trying to survive, or kill something, or debate how likely we were to die

When we finished, Jaipa dropped the four monster cores on the table like they were pennies

The server returned, picked one up, and whistled

" Thankyou for visiting sir ! "

Hearing that jaipa's chest puffed

" ha..ha ha.. it's nothing we will come by if we have time left for eating "

Jaipa leaned back smugly

She laughed and took the cores, bowing again

"Come again soon sir "

" Is there any place were i can change my clothes into " I said looking at my Dirty clothes

She guided us to a room without looking around, I got changed, summoning the clothes from my pendant these garments felt perfect neither too tight nor loose, just right for my body their most remarkable feature was their ability to regenerate after being torn they were ideal for someone like me with wings previously, spreading my wings would tear my clothing, but not anymore

Touching the bumps on my head, I got out from the room exchanging a glance with Jaipa, with everything settled, we set off towards the well....
