"I just have one question for you, son," Lenon started.
They were all in one van on their way to Lockhart's main hospital to tend to Wynter's wounds.
"Yes, Sir," Shawn replied.
He couldn't help but sit straight and call him sir.
"Calm down, I am not going to interrogate you or anything," Lenon chuckled.
"I just want to know if you really know that young lady," he said, glancing at Wynter at the back, being watched over by Sabrina and Tiffany.
"If you are talking about her being called a murderer by her mother, I don't know anything about it. But I can tell that she is someone who treasures life more than anyone could imagine. This is one thing I am confident in," Shawn replied seriously.
All of them were, of course, wondering about what Minerva meant. But they couldn't possibly just ask them or her for that matter, as if they were asking for the weather.
Shawn may have only witnessed this character of Wynter when she confronted Patricia back in high school. But he has this confidence that there is more to the story about her being a murderer.
Lenon smiled, "Very well."
Meanwhile, at the back.
"I'm sorry," Sabrina sighed.
"Why?" Tiffany looked at her.
"It feels like you are the ones who received their ire, even though it was supposed to be our family's–"
"We are not thinking about those kinds of things. If we received their ire and they get back at us for it, then that just proves how much of an evil family they are. Look at what they did to this young lady…"
She looked at Wynter's sleeping face.
"How much did she suffer over the years? Now, all I could think of is the fact that she has truly lived her life as a doll," she said, her eyes filled with sadness.
Sabrina smiled bitterly, "Indeed. It's heart-wrenching just thinking about it."
Soon they arrived at the hospital.
Dominick is a doctor, while Sabrina is a renowned anesthesiologist. The two of them opted to check on her themselves while also being discreet so that no one would find out about her. And the fact that
"How is she?" Tiffany asked after they were done.
"She has bruises all over her body… but not to the visible parts… except for her lips, it seems that she was slapped a few days prior."
Sabrina couldn't help but pause as she spoke of this, she could feel her anger bubbling again.
"Other than that, she was also physically weakened due to hunger," she added with a shake of her head.
Truly, she could not imagine just how much abuse Wynter went through until she reached this point.
"But I am amazed at her resilience. For her spirit not to break, what an amazing person," Sabrina then said.
"She is also quite lucky that your son has befriended her," Tiffany replied.
"If I did not hear from Larissa how she pushed my son away with his character, I would have thought that she had planned this all along," Sabrina couldn't help but say.
"To use your son as a means of escape?" Tiffany asked.
Sabrina chuckled with a bit of guilt, "That is how people usually are. But my son's intuition is quite on point. He wouldn't have befriended her if she were hiding such a manipulative side."
She felt guilty because of Wynter's condition, yet she was also thinking that Wynter may have planned this all along when she found out about Shawn's real identity. If not for the fact that she remembered Larissa's words about Wynter pushing Shawn away.
Tiffany simply placed her hand on Sabrina's shoulder with a smile.
With their family backgrounds, it is inevitable that they would doubt anyone who approaches their family.
The same goes for those who were also a part of the prominent families.
Meanwhile, Dominick and Lenon asked Shawn to tell them how he and Wynter reached this point.
Something Shawn readily spoke about.
From how they started to all the things she silently did for their group of friends without asking anything in return.
"If she was indeed acting, then she is one hell of it for putting that much effort," he added, but he himself does not believe that everything was an act.
Harmony Thomas may indeed be an act on Wynter's part, but everything she did for them, Shawn knew it was real.
"And… what is your judgment?" Dominick asked his son.
"She is someone whom I can trust a lot," he answered firmly.
Dominick nodded his head before looking at Lenon.
"Thank you for this."
Lenon shook his head, "If it were us, you would surely have stepped up as well."
Dominick chuckled before looking at Shawn again.
"What do you think is her next plan?"
Shawn shook his head, "I also don't know."
"She can't be out as Wynter Morgrave, will she be living as Harmony Thomas for a while?" Dominick wondered, not really asking anyone.
"She will also need protection," Lenon reminded.
Shawn lowered his head, "I'm sorry."
The two adults who were pondering over what to do about the young lady turned to Shawn.
"I acted without thinking. I did not realize it would escalate this much," Shawn sadly said.
"Would you leave her if you knew?" Dominick asked.
"I… I don't want to," Shawn replied.
He couldn't say he wouldn't because he has no power.
But he truly did not wish to leave Wynter.
Dominick looked at Lenon and the two smiled at one another before Dominick placed a hand on Shawn's shoulder.
"If you left her alone then I would berate you. I would get mad at you. Instead, what you did today, I can confidently say that I am proud of who you have become."
"Dad," Shawn looked up.
Dominick patted his shoulder, "Leave all this complicated stuff to the adults."
