"Get up," Zephyr's voice cut through her panic. It wasn't a shout, but it held a quiet power that made her obey. Selene sat up, smoothing her dress and adjusting her veil, her heart still hammering like a trapped bird.
Two fears gnawed at her: where was he taking her, and more terrifyingly, how could she force herself to step outside again?
She had been out before, a few fleeting times, defying the curse that bound her to the indoors. But each time, it felt like a direct challenge to the goddess herself. The thought alone made her tremble.
"Should I call the guards to help you move?" Zephyr's voice was surprisingly calm, almost bored.
