Hans Monet's body was nowhere to be found in this house, however, and judging by how there was no trace of a single living human being in this village, Cassius suspected that he was truly dead as Marissa had said. 

But regardless, he needed to fulfill his younger sister's wish—the wish to be buried beside her lover. 

Cassius turned around, "Renard," then he stopped his words as the moment he had turned around, his loyal retainer, who had never strayed far away from him, had completely disappeared from the house. 

With eyes narrowed, Cassius knew that Renard hadn't left because he wanted to. There was something about the fog that felt unnatural, and perhaps that was what caused for them to be separated, perhaps on purpose, probably because this was what they wanted from the start- to separate him from his men so killing him would be easier.
