Chapter 164 - Source Origin(14)

Cades should've expected what followed, but he hadn't, simply being obsessed with the source of the eternal call that had been leading him forward all his life, or perhaps just been present in every significant memory he could remember as of right now, or perhaps it was even just messing with the memories and never there, those, those were the things he was thinking of right now as he fell into the doorframe, pulled by an invincible, invisible force greater than any he had ever felt before, and yet soft.

As he was pulled into the mysteriousness of the invisible door he had pushed open without even realizing how he had pushed it open, without even realizing that he had been pushing it open at all, only remembering how he went towards it and having blacked out as soon as he stood in front of it, he tried to make himself belief that the call he was certain had been present most of his life, weak but there, had not been there, not because it hadn't been there, not because it had been there, he really wasn't certain about either of those things, but because his mind just couldn't bear the theory that everything he had ever done, all his perceived luck before this happened, before the fall of ehetria, all his strive, came from this simple call, and he, much less, could not handle the thought of this call perhaps even just vanishing as soon as he entered the door.

But, even if that was true, even if it hadn't been pulling him forward every moment of his life, even if it hadn't been pulling him to make every decision he had ever made as he was now feeling quite certain, even if this mysterious clal hadn't been the true Cades, even if it hadn't decided every coin toss, every number-based game, every game of luck, even if all of that was true, even if it was all just a farce, a false lie, he could not do anything about it anymore, he had been pulled inside by the soft, invisible force that he couldn't even hope to resist in his most distant and deepest dreams, he was certain of that, and as such, as he was falling into the doorframe, his mind greatly accelerated by no power of his own, he began to find some piece in whatever might be happening next, in whatever would happen to his luck, to his misfortune, though he would be quite happy if the second part vanished completely, as he knew that he no longer had the choice to turn back and stay in the land of the flying top hats for all of eternity, he only had the choice of going forward and hopefully winning, succeeding to resist whatever might wait on the other side, if there was even anything waiting for him.

He fell once more, not for long, he was fairly sure of that fact, he was quite certain that whatever this place was, it was testing him in some way, otherwise this would all make zero sense, though, it still made no sense at all, regardless of it all, Cades could not even imagine what was being tested here, because he was certain that he wouldn't have passed hadn't it been for his own abilities, so, how would other people pass this perceived test at all.. they wouldn't, that's the answer Cades cooked up, that's the answer he was so hung up on, that was the answer that f#cked his entire theory up like one glorious piece of crap in a pristine white floor covered in a golden carpet.

Manug, his late.. friend, or at least Cade shad begun to realize that he had begun viewing him as one, had once told him, when they met for the first time, that he looked like he had eaten the baby of some holy mother of some mythical being in his own world, or at least that's what Cades assumed that Manug had meant, and thought back then, and also right now, that was obviously very wrong, he had begun to realize that the description was a very good way to describe the feeling that this place, this place which he was now falling through caused inside of him, a feeling that could indeed best be described with that very vileness that one should feel after such a vile act, after such a dishonourable thing, but either way, he was now, slowly having the feeling leave his body once more, falling towards some pinkish white ground that he had never seen before, many black dots on the ground, spread far apart, but he was falling towards the centre of three, all of which he assumed to be monsters, though he was unable to tell anything else about those beings, his very mind somehow refusing to properly look at them.

He couldn't even begin to properly look at one of them, barely being able to make out what looked like a hair from this high up, and barely even having enough mental energy to realize that he was still falling, rather fast at that, while he was looking at that singular being, though this also resulted in him luckily not figuring out that he was about to be smashed into a meaty pancake with a red sauce as soon as he touched the floor of this new plane, perhaps a sick joke out in by whoever created this, a person that was perhaps even Cades himself, in which he could only reaffirm his convictions of despising himself, something he didn't really admit to himself though.

Yet, before his mind even had the capacity to worry, he landed on the ground, his knees caving in and beginning to hurt more than he had even thought about them hurting, his entire skeleton shaking and his nerves screaming in pain, his very mind ripping itself apart as it realized what it had just met, and he, himself, not really carrying any physical markings from it, aside from shaky knees and a body pumped full of adrenaline as he hurried to turn that very body around and look at the monsters he had tried to look at from far, far above, not even really caring about analysing where he even was right now, barely noting the pinkish white floor, quite a squishy one at that, that reminded him of something he knew all to well, only underlined by the fact that this place was quite warm, though not so warm that it could be considered as dangerous, especially not for him.
