Chapter 111 - Endless chain(12)

Cade fell down, his legs barely being able to keep up with the task of even just standing, instead they just collapsed and he landed face-first on the metal of the ancient chain that now began to taste like copper smelled, quite bad and very metallic, self-explanatory in this case, shortly after that the true price for his curiosity would be taken, he could already feel his entire body convulsing after all.

As he laid there, his face touching the ancient, uneven metal his entire body slowly began to twitch while his mind simply went blank, or rather, as his mind watched, but not from inside the body that seemed to be going through excruciating pain right now, no, from the outside, it watched from where the greenish goo had previously been, only a few feet away, but still from outside, in a form in which it could not see but only feel, and it felt how the body was convulsing, it was as if he was sensing his own mana moving without sensing anything, it was just as if he knew something that he never knew before out of nowhere without any source.

While he was perceiving his body, his self desperately trying to return after somehow leaving once more, his body began to ooze out a liquid he had known for quite some time, to be precise his body was oozing out, sweating, a kind of silver liquid that slowly began to writhe and squirm as the greenish goo from before had done, but instead of running away it, the worms, began to try and enter his body again, to Cades, though, it seemed more like some kind of silvery water was trying to enter his body through every single opening, and in many a way he was right.

Within less than a second his body finally started to convulse even greater, his every muscle twitching and going out of order as his body moved without any control from his self that was now, as far as he could tell, outside of his body but still mere feet away, and yet his self was moving, pulled by the intent of the body to be whole, the subconscious intent, the primal instinct not to die, and if dying is not losing ones self then what is, and as such his self was now almost connected with the intent that was stretching out from the senseless convulsing body as his own self also began to stretch out, back to the intent within himself, as if trying to complete himself once more, no, exactly as that, but he could not feel either way, eh could barely think, in many a way he simply was.

And soon after he was connected to the stretched out intent of his body, and as soon as he was, he could feel how the silver oozing from his body stopped and the convulsing calmed down, though he could feel something behind his own self, something deeper, many somethings actually, he could feel countless and yet countless iterations of the same something that seemed to remain silent, and as such the only intention, the only self, the only will that spoke aloud became the ruler of all those that were the same but still remained silent, he regained control over his self, and soon after he was finally back.

Laying on the ancient chain with his head buried in the uneven metal, hurting all over after having been bashed into the material hundreds of times over with great force, the force of the remaining magical energy, he finally tried to stand up, a fools errand as he was simply not able to move as of right now, his every bodily part had been strained beyond what he would normally ever do to himself, so much so that his every muscle was probably ripped into pieces, something that would however most likely help him in growing his muscles, his basic biology, even stronger once he finally healed and was able to stand up once more.

However, despite that obvious biological factor his soul and psyche seemed to need at least a little bit of time to recollect themselves, and indeed, after just a moment he was once again able to think and act with his body as he thought, at least he would've been able to had his body not been ripped apart already after all the twitching and convulsing he had done during the time his self had been apart from his body, the time where many would probably have claimed him to be dying, it not already dead.

After he was finally reconnected to his body he simply just watched, with it being overtaken by pain, until he finally had a lightbulb light up in the now darkened back of his mind, he finally remembered that he had a so-called active, the regeneration blessing according to what he had been able to figure out, and he began to realize at that same moment that the regeneration blessing should be able to heal his ripped apart bones, accelerating his bodily functions and consequently also strengthening the newly build muscles, as was normal in such cases.

And as such, with his intent having become more pronounced and powerful after having been ripped from his body it began to spread out inwards, searching for something that even the engraving didn't activate right now, searching after the active of which they already knew the location, and soon enough it had been found, activating by his will, something that he would normally not even notice happening but was now happening manually after he had temporarily begun to control his whole will, something that he realized was only really happening because he couldn't utilize his bodily functions right now.

But as he had already expected his new ability of controlling his whole intent soon vanished as soon as the foreign energy of the active spread through his body with the intent of fixing that he now ever so slightly felt, consequently fixing everything until he was finally able to stand up once more.

With wobbly knees Cades stood up after about a quarter minute, a surprisingly short time, and soon after he realized that he had once again grown, this time not in force, not in magical energy, but instead in his self, he himself had grown more pronounced, only slightly, but he could feel that he had become of a higher self, he could feel it.

If he had to put a name to it then he would probably be of the middle of the transcribe-rank right now, a rank that he himself had given that very name, a rank that was seemingly quite different from all the previous ranks, in every way he could think of.
